Billionaires Against Bush
You'd think they'd have gotten the memo that Bush is only for the rich, but yet another billionaire has joined the effort (with cash, obviously, can't we can just buy the grassroots effort?)to try to oust Bush. Peter B. Lewis, the Cleveland-based insurance billionaire and philanthropist, has pledged more than $12 million to groups like Moveon.org.
Now, I like money. I like spending money. And I believe that people should be able to spend their money on anything they'd like. But it really galls me how the left pushes 'campaign finance reform' (in hopes of course that it harms the Republicans running for office-didn't exactly happen that way in the last go-round) and then skirts it with these methods. They preach and moan about how bad money is in politics, but of course not when it's their guys collecting the cash. Howard Dean not taking public money, billionaires on parade with their cash? That's ok. Remember, the goal isn't to actually right any wrongs or fix any loopholes. The goal is to get their guy in.
