About today's mood music

Yes, that's right. I like 50 Cent. A lot. And it's not just because, as Doug just put it on Instant Messenger: You can take the girl from the ghetto, but you can't take the ghetto from the girl. I think he's a good rapper and his beats are perfect for when you're getting ready to go out and are dancing around your house. He's not for children and my endorsement of his cd does not imply that I am going to love every thing he does and says. I just like his music and thinks he's very nice to look at.

He came to our after-club when he played the MEN, he surrounded by loads of feeble white fellas but he sure does look the part, pity he has a voice higher than Jackson/Beckham in real life! Merry Xmas peeps.

No way! I love his voice. It's very masculine. I've heard him talk plenty and he has talks really quick and mumbles a lot but since I talk quick and mumble a lot I can relate.

Get Rich or Die Tryin'. What a sentiment. Glossed muscle and marketing supreme, pefectly targeted at soaking African-American youth. With the only requirement being that they shun endeavors potentially realistic or responsible in favor of histrionic malevolence, a horde mentality. How ironic that the true phallocrats the feminist historians mythologized about are actually here and now, the bread and butter served up by the music industry to "our most vulnerable."

I wont even go into the "perfect beat" thing. But the idea that the experience is somehow separable from, or not servant to, the words, is laughable. Please post the lyrics to a "song" (even this word seems out of date to me now given what we have) so we can really see how deep the "Ghetto Code" goes.

This is so far away from my person of the day to trumpet (a true and refined example for African-Americans) Charles Johnson Not only did he teach me a new word tergiversation, his philosophical analysis of the Essie Mae Williams case was a historical and linguistic web of beauty.

Kashei, maybe masculine for Yankees, 50 cent ain't shit on Shaun Ryder, at least our man in Manchester 'SWR' wrote good pop songs, even if he did fuck his own mam!

Michael, it depends why you listen to music. There are several thousand cds in my apartment, I listen to everything. Rap has its role in my music collection and I go through my phases with it. The lyrics tell more of a story than it seems. Is there a lot of bravado? Yes. But there are other things too: bravery, independence, love, family, personal responsibility (the last two are especially prominent in Eminem), ambition, being true to yourself and other things too numerous to mention. I'll give you some suggestions on what to do download if you're interested.
Tariq, Never heard of Shaun Ryder but am not a fan of the waaaaay overhyped The Streets.
