Restaurant Recommendation

Yesterday was the lovely Peter's birthday. He met me after my polling class and I took him out to dinner. We went to Craft on East 19th between Park and Broadway. I had wanted to go there since it opened a few years ago but it was impossible to get reservations at first (of course) and by the time the hype died down I was a poor student who couldn't afford it (unless for a special occasion such as this). And, it was pricey but really amazing and, I think, worth it. The idea at Craft is that you order every part of your meal separately. You choose the main dish and then the side you'd like to accompany it. Peter had the Kobe skirt steak. I had the lobster. We had a mushroom risotto, potatos au gratin and whipped potatos as sides. It was dreamy. I highly recommend it (but, again, be sure to bring your platinum card or lots of cash).

There is a valid, in-city poll that shows you are 'rich.' So cut the poor student crap.

Yeah, ya darn richers! Go back where ya came from.

I walk by Craft every morning and I've never been. Maybe I'll give it a try now that someone other than an easily-impressed New York Food Writer has given it a thumbs up.

Happy birthday to lovely Peter, meter maid. Yay for you!

Strangely enough, last night I was at Pipa, across the street. Okay, it's a little bit strange. That whole area is the ideal place to go if you want to splurge a little on well-prepared food. I'm thinking of Sushi Samba as well.

Peter, meter maid? Eh...
Is that like Peter Schmeter?

Ari, I'll give you a call. :-)

Dawn, that was a flawed poll. :-P

Ken, definitely give it a shot. It's gooooood.

Yaron, that's so funny. We got to Craft early and it was packed so we were going to go look in ABC's window. As we walked down the block, I pointed to Pipa and said 'that place is supposed to be really good too'. A hungry Peter then asked 'maybe you want to go there instead?' We decided to wait it out for Craft. Small city.

BTW, Peter was violently opposed to having any kind of birthday celebration or all of you would be invited to my place tonight, so blame him for lack of party.

I wrote a whole song about 'hungry Peter,' Karol said I should comment it. But it won't translate on screen (it's a very audio thing) and then she'll re-comment 'Eh, that was funnier on the phone.'

Yaron and Ari, thanks.

Dawn, I'm looking forward to hearing your song.
