Tonight and most nights

Live in NYC? Seeking right-leaning people to talk to and events to attend? Check out my events blog. It's pretty impressive how many interesting events for rightwingers there are in this mostly-Democrat town. There are three cool things going on just tonight: a debate featuring John Stossel, a Jewish-Republican meeting with Sandy Treadwell, Chairman of the New York State Republican Party and a New York Young Republican Club happy hour (more info about each on the other blog). Unfortunately, I have class until 8 and will only be able to attend the happy hour but I'm sure the other two events will be just great.
Update: Just been told that anyone attending the happy hour can get in for $5 (instead of $10) by mentioning my name at the door.

Probably food, definitely not drinks.

Ohhhh I wish I could. I missed about 3 weeks of school so it doesn't look like I can miss any more. If you want to go, I did RSVP for myself and Peter so you can bring a friend (as he's not going either). Or join me for happy hour!

Free food and drinks?

Sounds suspiciously socialist to me. :)

Just remembered that the debate will have free drinks afterward, but not food.

John Stossel is a great guy... I am a member of Young America's Foundation, and I recall from awhile ago, one of their newsletters featured him.

I think that Mr. Stossel is more libertarian-leaning, though; I don't know how he feels about social issues.

I wonder if he opposed the Iraq war; many libertarians and libertarian-leaning conservatives did (along with many traditionalist conservatives and constitutionalists). I recall a show segment that he did a couple of years ago (this was before 9/11), that a lot of libertarians liked; in that segment, I think he expressed opposition to big government; Prof. Tibor Machan and the great U.S. Congressman Ron Paul (R-TX) were included in it. That segment did briefly mention foreign policy - maybe with regards to the interventions and bombings that had occurred during the Clinton administration (policies that traditionalist conservatives, other conservatives, libertarians, and some others, opposed). Mr. Stossel probably opposed most or all of the major military interventions that occurred during the Clinton administration, and perhaps he opposed this recent Iraq war as well.
