Great illustration of the hypocrisy in believing the rules of humanity only apply to the other side. Replace the Arab with Sharon reading Ha'aretz and you got a whole new cartoon that's just as applicable.

Better yet, based upon some of the things he's said the last couple days, replace the Arab with a ranting Limbaugh as he fumes over the loss of American lives in Iraq but explains that the U.S. soldiers accused of torturing and possibly killing Iraqi detainees were just "letting off a little steam."

Show me the joy expressed by Ariel Sharon when an Israeli operation takes out a Palestinian innocent. Show me the jubilation expressed by Rush Limbaugh at the thought that Iraqi prisoners are being tortured. Show me anything that resembles the party that was thrown in Fallujah, and I'll buy the analogy.

Rick,
You just posted a great illustration of your stupidity - and hypocricy, too. The analogy doesn't hold water.

Actually, reports the day after the fallujah hanging say that most of the people in the city were very ashamed about the way the bodies of the contractors were handled. I don't think it's fair to paint everyone with the brush of "celebration" because of the actions of a couple of dozens mobbers. should the entire U.S. armed forces be judged based on what the jailer-army folks did?

It's one thing to be a murderer or a torturer. It's another to celebrate murder or torture. Where are the Americans dancing in the street or celebrating these horrible events? Where is anyone expressing glee? I think Rush's excuse making is bad and unnecessary but it's still not being happy over the events. Here is another take, though:

PA radio hailed her murderers as "heroic martyrs."

Meirav was two. The palestinians celebrated throughout Gaza and the West Bank. Worse still, the murderers brought a video camera and recorded the deaths of the mother and children.

And Rick, I know you're going to be unable to provide a single example of Sharon expressing any kind of glee over civilian deaths so go back to indymedia or the DNC to get your next talking points.

the rest of the arab world did not dance in the streets when we caught saddam, but they are dancing know that they caught us screwing up.

What if we killed the soldiers who did this, along with their familes (and then shot the children in the head to make sure they are dead). Or maybe if we allowed a token muslim guy to do they would be happy?

No the islamic world would not care, and we would be just as evil as the rest of them.

No we will do it the american way, by just ruining the young solider's careers.

Plain and simple, this cartoon illustrates the hypocrisy of criticizing someone for doing the same thing that you are doing.

Sharon and the Palestinians criticize each other for killing innocent civilians but they are both involved in actions that kill innocent civilians whether they mean to or not. And both parties are satisfied when their objectives are accomplished. Rush goes ballistic, as well he should, when U.S. citizens are killed and dragged through the streets of Fallujah, but he then minimizes the actions of U.S. soldiers when they torture and possibly kill Iraqi detainees.

It’s that hypocrisy and not necessarily the exact emotions of the characters depicted in the cartoon that my analogies attempted to emulate.

And Karol, I do visit other websites and pick up different things, as do you, but I have never visited either one of the two sites you named.

"but they are both involved in actions that kill innocent civilians whether they mean to or not."

The difference is that the Palestinians mean to and the Israelis don't. And that's a hell of a big difference. If you don't see it, there's something wrong with you.
