Help.

Ok, they've broken me. The incest/bestiality/home-loan spam people have done me in. I deleted about a thousand (no, I'm not exaggerating) spam comments today. And now I need to learn how to set up my comment section to make it more difficult for them to do it again. Anyone have any idea on how to do this?

Try emailing Scott at slant point and ask him. He checks it pretty often and knows a bit about that sort of thing......I think anyway.

Go to Preference, IP banning and enter the IP address.

To find IP addresses, go to your main menu page of Moveable Type. You should have "Five Most Recent Comments" listed on the right. click them and the IP is ther.

To change Five Most Recent to More, go here:
http://www.thegirliematters.com/tips/archives/0311/more_than_five_recent_items_on_editing_menu.php

Or there is MTBLackList plugin. Look that up.

You could also disable comments from older posts.

I banned IP addresses but there are so many of them. I could not figure out how to change to more than 5 comments but anyway, what good would it do me, I would still have to delete them pretty much one at a time. Is there a way, ala haloscan, to check a bunch at once? No clue how to disable comments for older posts.

Anyone know how to set up the system to make people enter a code to leave a comment (annoying, I know, but it's gotten that bad).
