Do they have lobbyists in Flint?

Michael Moore has hired a K Street lobbying firm to promote his film across the U.S. Whatssa matter Mikey, think it will be a flop otherwise?

Working Class Zero

Personally, I come from the same side of the political fence that Moore does (most of the time). however, I really am not so sure if I like this guy at all. I think that he made himself a niche by criticizing the US in a way that was very appealing to Europeans. His early TV (TV Nation I think) was shown on British TV and was ok. I recall enjoying it as a teenager in Ireland. It was lighter than his current work but it essentially lampooned America in an unorthodox, entertaining fashion and in a way that chipped into many European's taste for tut-tutting America.

I think what has happened with Moore is that he has just gotten more and more popular over there as people on the other side of the Atlantic feel a need to shake an accusing finger at America. He's an American who agrees with them about the wrongs of Amercia so he must be right. right? Now, the US is so polarised that he's found a big audience in the US. Pay Dirt.

Which leads me to this conclusion: If you build a mini-industry of telling people who are mildly comtemptous of your nation exactly what they want to hear, how is that really helping anything? If he was jsut an ambitios dude who found a dubious way of shifting a lot of books, TV shows and Movie tickets, that would be one thing. However, his ego is immense enough that he acts like some kind of saviour or social warrior. I smell a rat. Besides, I don't think he every really uncovers or exposes anything (in his books), he just rearranges a load of facts and weaves them into a tasty, invective laced, bubble-gum treat. Not lies maybe, but not really anything at all. Ultimately, he's a light-weight and for him to steal bandwidth in challenging times like these feels like a raw deal to pinkos like me who, believe it or not, yearn for leaders who are more than jumped up little ego-maniac hacks. If Moore or Limbaugh and other court jesters provide our political guidance - then we deserve the kings we get.
