The conceit.

So, Drudge is reporting that Clinton is mad that he hasn't been asked to speak at Reagan's funeral. The spin from his people is that "President Clinton really held out all hope the funeral would be a nonpartisan event, like Nixon's was," a top Clinton source said on Tuesday morning. "He's angry and disappointed neither he nor President Carter have been asked to speak, as of yet." He's especially angry since both Bush Sr. and W. will be speaking.
Let's review. George Bush Sr. was the dead man's Vice President. Bush Jr. is the current president. They make sense as speakers at his funeral. As does Margaret Thatcher, Reagan's partner in the fight against Communism. Who the hell is Clinton to Reagan? If this story is true, it's just one of the many reasons I've never 'hated' Clinton but have always disliked him personally.

Let's review since this is our history, our heritage and our home. Ford was Nixon's old friend from all the way back to 1949 when they served in the House together, was his veep who pardoned his ass and yet he did not speak at the Nixon funeral. Bob Dole, who was nothing to Nixon, did. But then Dole was the GOP nominee in the wings despite Dole being nothing to Nixon. Clinton's just pissed that political funerals have always been used as political pep rallies since the days of Julius Caesar and Marc Anthony. Even the Founding Fathers did it. Fisher Ames and Light Horse Harry Lee (for those of who you came in light, Ames wrote the 1st ademendment and Lee-no not that Lee, that's his son-was a cavalry general in the Revolution and Federalist governor of Virginia) did the same thing to Washington when he died. So Clinton and the Bush boys are just playing politics even with corpses (suprise, suprise).

C'mon, Karol, not even your beloved Fox News is reporting this crap. Beware of the Drudge Report. Like a good margarita, Drudge must be taken with large amounts of salt.

When Clinton was an anti-war hippie in the late '60s, I'm sure his ultimate goal in life was to one day speak at the funerals of Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan.
