It's just an email address, people.
People have done gone and lost their everloving minds. What is the big deal about GMAIL? How can there seriously be a swap list with items like 'I'll photoshop you into a pic with me and my boyfriend' on it? What is going on in this world? By the way, I have a GMAIL account and other than its monsterous size, there is nothing impressive about it. In fact, yahoo! remains my favorite free email account.

That's what I keep saying! Ehat is the big frickin' deal? I guess without realizing it, I've become quite Microsoft-y: I use Hotmail, which can be downloaded into Outlook Express.
Posted by: C at June 19, 2004 09:13 AMThank you for providing a voice of reason in an otherwise insane world. I signed up for Gmail too. But a) only two other people I know use it and b) more importantly... it's just another damn email account I'll have to start checking.
I have four email accounts, two different IM accounts. Do I really need something that sort of wants to be both, but other than size doesn't have much more to offer.
Posted by: ken at June 19, 2004 12:16 PMAnyone can't sign up for one?
Posted by: PAUL at June 19, 2004 06:30 PMSpeak for yourself. ;) I fucking love GMail. I love how it keeps my "conversations" together and especially love how I can search it. (Just yesterday I searched "flight new york" to find my itinerary.) For someone without a printer, it's a godsend.
I don't like how it's difficult to delete things and how you can't save drafts, but those are my only complaints. Google your email! I think it's a fantastic idea.
Posted by: candace at June 19, 2004 06:45 PMYeah, yeah, yeah. Anyone want to take a guess on who got me to sign up for Gmail in the first place with her absolute RAVING about it? ;)
Posted by: ken at June 19, 2004 06:52 PMC, I find hotmail a little annoying to use. It's also kind of slow.
Paul, not yet. Probably soon though.
Candace, I hate the lack of address book. I send out emails to 'lists' (for rightwing events in NYC) and it's annoying to have to click each individual name.
Ken, and do you love it?
Posted by: Karol at June 19, 2004 07:04 PMYahoo just added a lot more memory to thier email. It's great because before it was a constant battle for me to stay below the threshold. Yahoo also stopped making bulkmail count towards your memory.
I really like Yahoo.
With what has been said I see no benefit for me to Gmail. I already use yahoo to screen out my spam (places it in the bulk mail folder which deletes with one button), then close yahoo and open up in outlook express so I can save my real mail to my own file system. That is the worst feature I found with free hotmail and yahoo accounts; they are both difficult or impossible to archive! Of the two, though, until just recently yahoo was much clunkier than hotmail.
Posted by: 49erDweet at June 20, 2004 03:43 AMSo now that you've made your money off of it, you're trying to depress the market????
Selfish, selfish, selfish!
