Technical Question

Does anyone have any idea how to upload video from dv to my harddrive?

You need - probably - a firewire cable and port, along with a program that can take video input. I use Adobe Premiere, but I am sure that Windows Movie Maker does it as well, and is free to boot on XP machines.

Same as DemEnTEd, but if you use a Mac use iMovie. Dead simple, turn on camera, plug in firewire, fire up iMovie, import.

I use PC. Is a firewire cable something that would come with the camera?

ditto.

If your laptop is over a year or two old, you may need to buy a firewire PCI adapter card.

The firewire cable shoulda come with the camera.

If not, Radio Shack will have them. 42nd & Madison.

Check your pc for a tiny slot that say either "firewire" or IEEE 1394. If you don't have one, you need the card.

What make is the camera? It's also possible (albeit significantly less likely) that it can be connected to your USB port.

There's an Apple store not too far from where you are right now.

Help is on the way. ;-)
