Jessica hearts Halliburton
And she's not the only one (although she probably is the only one who got so excited to see the company that she u-turned on a busy road to get this photo), I've seen this shirt twice today:
UPDATE: Apparently the people I saw today in the 'I heart Halliburton' t-shirts are part of the Protest Warrior group and do a counter-protest weekly at the Halliburton headquarters.

yeah, they are such sweethearts. I'm sure they didn't mean to overcharge on their contracts and get caught in fraud. It's probably also just an oversight that they do business with Iran.
Posted by: Larry at September 12, 2004 12:24 AMI can't believe people think liberals are humorless. You totally prove that wrong, Larry. And, by the way, John Kerry wants to normalize relations with Iran.
Posted by: Karol at September 12, 2004 03:55 AMI got to meet the Protest Warriors during the RNC, and discovered them to be a cowardly pack of neo-Bundists.
Two old men in the protest march were the last surviving members of the Abraham Lincoln Brigade, Americans who fought facists in the Spanish Civil War. These guys are REAL warriors---and they both told me the Protest Warriors were "assholes." (Their words).
As old and frail as they are, those two veterans could kick the PW from here to Ft. Worth and back with one hand tied behind their backs.
Posted by: Don Myers at September 12, 2004 12:47 PMKarol:
How do you feel about normalizing relations with Iran? Either:
A) you think that it's A-OK to do business with Iran, even when such trade is in direct violation of US law, or
B) you think that it's a terrible idea to do business with Iran, therefore you oppose Sen. Kerry's foreign policy proposals.
You manage to express both mutally-exclusive ideas in your post and comments, but you really need to choose one and stick to it.
So which is it, Karol---A or B?
Unless you want to choose a third option, such as:
C) Anything my GOP puppet masters do is good and anything Kerry says is bad, and if I have to actually think it just makes my pretty little head hurt.
A, B, or C?
Posted by: Don Myers at September 12, 2004 12:58 PMLook how Kerry celebrated 9/11 - what a patriot!
An attractive girl who likes Halliburton (I bought lots of their stock before the war - I knew they'd help make me rich) - ahem, Karol, why haven't we been introduced?
Posted by: Radical Redneck at September 12, 2004 02:13 PMI'm just impressed that Jessica's top was so well color-coordinated with Haliburton's logo.
It's the little things that show you care.
Posted by: Mark Poling at September 12, 2004 04:37 PMIt's B, Don you jackass. I have principles that supercede party any day. Too bad the left doesn't, and will be voting for someone who voted for the Iraq war, Patriot Act and No Child Left Behind Act, among others. Go you guys. But hey, you sure know how to use the usual lines about 'masters' etc, don't you?
RR, Jessica is sad you don't remember her since you've met several times.
Posted by: Karol at September 13, 2004 12:52 AMKarol, if it's B, what's with all the "I love Halliburton" nonsense? Besides the fact that they got caught red-handed double and triple charging YOU and I for services in Iraq, they had extensive dealings with Iran in direct violation of the law.
If you support the USA Patriot Act and the for-profit War in Iraq, why do you criticize Kerry for supporting the USA Patriot Act and the for-profit War in Iraq? More importantly, why do you feel the need to change the subject and go on the attack whenever someone points out the inconsistancies in your thinking?
Posted by: Don Myers at September 13, 2004 07:27 AMFantastic. If the good people at Halliburton had any sense, they'd immediately hire Jessica as a spokesmodel. It would beat the hell out of the current face they have attached to them.
Posted by: Yaron at September 13, 2004 11:03 AMDon, you made a rude comment that I'm a puppet controlled by party masters. I was just pointing out your idiocy in supporting someone that doesn't match your ideals AT ALL while criticizing me for it. I do support the Patriot Act and the war in Iraq and I'm voting for the guy that does too. What's your excuse?
I don't know about Halliburton's Iran deals and I would be for punishing them if it is true that they did business with that country. And the 'I love Halliburton' is FUNNY. Again, look into that humor thing.
Posted by: Karol at September 13, 2004 07:46 PMI think it's fine if we do business in Iran so long as we screw their goverment over in the end.
Posted by: aaron at September 13, 2004 09:33 PMDear Karol:
It's hardly 'idiocy' to give my vote to someone I don't agree with 100%---I'm voting for the guy who comes closest to representing my values. Apparently, like Dubya, you "don't do nuance."
Pres. Kerry will protect the right to choose, repeal some of the massive tax givaways to the rich, stem the hemmoraging of Social Security, and stop the empire-building policies of the Bush regime. That's why I'll be voting for him.
I don't know about Halliburton's Iran deals and I would be for punishing them if it is true that they did business with that country.
Jesus Christ Karol---how the hell can you NOT know about it? It's not exactly a state secret! Unless you're getting your news exclusively from Drudge and NewsMax, you must have heard about it (although that would explain some things...)
Here. I'll even get you started:
"Halliburton, in trouble over alleged over-charging for Iraq contracts, is being probed for its deals in Iran. A US grand jury has demanded documents relating to contracts in Iran - subject to US sanctions -by a Halliburton subsidiary based in the Cayman Islands."
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/3908753.stm
Sorta makes that 'I love Halliburton' crap a little less funny, doesn't it?
Posted by: Don Myers at September 14, 2004 07:24 AMPres. Kerry
Must be a typo, 'cause that is never gonna happen. Wise up. The only question now is who will last longer: Kerry or Rather?
Posted by: Scaramonga at September 14, 2004 10:41 AMKerry will protect the right to choose, repeal some of the massive tax givaways to the rich, stem the hemmoraging of Social Security, and stop the empire-building policies of the Bush regime
How many cliches can this cartoon character fit into one paragraph?
Jessica: d'oh!
Posted by: Radical Redneck at September 14, 2004 12:56 PMDon,
I agree with you 150000% because that seems like a big number and might support my position better. If Karol votes for the person that closest represents her values (despite some inconsistencies) it's because she's controlled by puppet masters, but if you vote for the person that closest represents YOUR values (despite some inconsistencies) it's because you're nuanced.
Golly I'm so hoping I can grow up to be an intamalectual geneeus like you.
Ohbytheway...the Halliburton joke is still funny. Run by Wal-Mart on the way home and pick yourself up a sense of humor. They sell everything else; I'm sure those are in stock too.
Finally, not to defend Halliburton, but you are the accuser. You have the burden of proof.
The operational line in that article you linked to is the last one: "Halliburton came under fire earlier this month for the Iran deals, with critics charging that they abused the spirit - if not the letter - of sanctions banning US firms from working in Iran."
They *may* have violated the spirit but not the letter. Last I checked laws were applied as written.
You should also know that Halliburton actually had NO dealings with Iran. Subsidiaries of Dresser, a company which they purchased, did so through a joint venture with Ingersoll-Rand. Dresser would have managed their own affairs unless specifically requested by Halliburton so I'd find it difficult to leap from "Dresser made a deal" to "Cheney, with malice, personally forced Iran contracts to harm America."
This article lays it our pretty well http://www.truthout.org/docs_01/02.03E.Hallib.Iraq.htm
Searching Google News returns a bunch of articles in the usual places that all say the same thing the BBC article does. Nothing concrete but plenty of speculation, although extremely shrill in the lefty pubs of course. As issues go it rates a big so-what.
Grow up and quit crying.
Pres. Kerry will protect the right to choose, repeal some of the massive tax givaways to the rich, stem the hemmoraging of Social Security, and stop the empire-building policies of the Bush regime.
...at least for the next 15 minutes he will.

this post was about a PICTURE.
it is FUNNY.
it is INTERESTING.
it is NOT your jumping off point to talk about why y'all hate halliburton. blahdeblahdeblahblahblahblah. save it for your intro to america is evil classes.
"rabbit? did you say rabbit? i had a rabbit once. let me tell you all about it. oh... oh... you weren't even talking about rabbits? oh, but i really wanted to. now, about my rabbit. he was white with little pink ears..."
