"Well, I've never, ever used the harshest word as you just did."-John Kerry on calling Bush a liar.

....I mean, other than all those times I did.

"can I respond? can I respond? ummmmm...ahhhhh.........hard work."

President Bush

Posted by: dawn at October 5, 2004 06:41 AM

Ok, at least he's not lying. I rather a guy that's inarticulate but doesn't make shit up.

Posted by: Karol at October 5, 2004 10:10 AM

Well, not only is he inarticulate, but some doubt the President's veracity on the issue as well.

Posted by: Dawn Summers at October 5, 2004 10:53 AM

Bush's case for re-election.

The war on terror is going very well, we are quite clearly winning.

it is hard work and it is so hard that ONLY I can do the job.

HELLO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

as for Bush doesnt lie, WMDs in Iraq anyone? Saddam had links to Al-Quaeda and 9/11?

Posted by: Young-white-and-liberal at October 5, 2004 11:31 AM

Why is calling someone a liar so much worse than actually BEING a liar in your book?

Posted by: Don Myers at October 5, 2004 01:50 PM

YWL, Kerry also said there were WMD in Iraq. And, since Saddam actually used the WMD, it's pretty clear he did have them. Too bad we took our time invading, going to the UN and trying to make the world care. Saddam had plenty of time to move/hide them.

Don, this post shows Kerry lying. What don't you understand?

Posted by: Karol at October 5, 2004 01:59 PM

Karol, I don't understand why you think this is so much worse than lying about WMDs, lying about Iraq, or lying about deficit.

Posted by: Don Myers at October 5, 2004 04:17 PM

Don,

I don't know who you people are that believe that Saddam didn't have WMD. HE USED THEM. YOU CAN'T USE SOMETHING YOU DON'T HAVE. Why are you so confident that they're gone. What if they're in Syria and you're going to wake up to them used in NY sometime in the not too far off future? Then you'll blame Bush for failing to protect you, right?

Posted by: Karol at October 5, 2004 04:22 PM

Karol:

Oh, I see the problem...it's one of tenses. I'm using the present tense, you're using the past tense.

Yes, Saddam had WMD...13 YEARS AGO. He had them because the US Govt sold them to Saddam (via France and Egypt).

Why are you so confident that Cheney, Wolfowitz, and Rumsfield---the exact same men who first armed Saddam, back in the day---are going to keep you safe from them?

And where do you get the paranoid fanasty about Iraq attacking New York? I think Al Qaeda is mor likely to attack New York...and even you have to admit that the Bush administration has completely bungled the hunt for Osama.

Posted by: Don Myers at October 5, 2004 05:08 PM

BTW, you're still not answering my original question: Why do you consider it worse to CALL someone a liar than to BE a liar?

Posted by: Don Myers at October 5, 2004 05:10 PM

Don, so what did Saddam do with the weapons he had? Decided to get rid of them and call it a day? I mean, seriously.

And, again, Kerry IS LYING WHEN HE SAYS HE NEVER CALLED BUSH A LIAR. I can't make it clearer than that. Also, Kerry believed Saddam to have WMD. Are you calling Kerry a liar too?

Posted by: Karol at October 5, 2004 05:19 PM

Dearest Karol:

Of course Kerry is a liar. He's a rich white man running for president. So is Dubya.

But Dubya's lies have cost us billions of dollars and thousands of lives to enrich his campaign contributors. Kerry's lies have...well, offended your delicate sensibilities, I suppose.
Do you see the difference?

If you think your delicate sensibilities are more important that lives of the murdered thousands---and clearly, you do---do you think you might have a lack of perspective?

Let me re-phrase my original question: Considering the body count, why do you think Sen. Kerry's lies are so much worse than Dubya's?

Posted by: Don Myers at October 5, 2004 06:24 PM

Don, didn't Kerry vote in favor of the war that cost all these lives? Wouldn't that make him both a liar AND unprincipled?

And the 'rich white man' line is hilarious. You're a man, probably white, living in one of the wealthiest cities in the world, in one of the richest countries in the world and still feel resentment towards others like you.

Posted by: Karol at October 5, 2004 06:27 PM

Not only are you trying to bait me, Karol, you're doing it poorly. You still haven't answered the question: Considering the body count, why do you think Sen. Kerry's lies are so much worse than Dubya's?

Posted by: Don Myers at October 5, 2004 07:21 PM

And, again, Don, since Kerry is as much responsible for that body count as Bush, why won't you call him a liar too?

Posted by: Karol at October 5, 2004 07:26 PM

To answer your question about Saddam, Karol, I believe he did decide to get rid of them. I believe the sanctions and inspectors were working, and that THAT is why no WMD's were found. And there is no evidence whatsoever to contradict that theory.

As for the tired "Kerry supported the war, too" refrain, Kerry didn't ignore military advisors, fail to adequately plan, or make the president rush to war. If you concede that the war was a mistake (or at least poorly executed), you must concede that Bush, the Commander in Chief (hard work, that) bears more responsibility for the execution of the war than the poor fools in Congress who were duped and pressured into giving him the authority.

Oh, how bitterly ironic that those who now turn a blind eye to (or, worse, are apologists for) the Bush administration's continuous and catastrophic deception of the American people were among the most vociferous in claiming that President Clinton was "unfit to lead" because he lied about having an affair.

I remember when Arlen Spector and Dan Coats accused Clinton of manufacturing the "threat" of Osama bin Laden to distract from the Monica Lewinski scandal. Did Clinton accuse them of sedition? Of treason? Of sending "mixed messages" to the enemy? No. He showed them the facts. He didn't use spin or fear or politics, he simply briefed those two honorable men on the threat posed by Osama bin Laden. And you know what? The very next day they supported his actions.

Posted by: Rick Blaine at October 5, 2004 07:37 PM

Holy shit, Karol, he DID cally Kerry a liar. His exact words were "Of course Kerry is a liar". That's when you pulled a Bush and "accused" Don of being a rich white guy.

It would be less embarassing for you if you conceded a valid point every now and then instead of refusing to answer pertinent questions or calling people names.

Posted by: Rick Blaine at October 5, 2004 07:40 PM

Rick, you're the only on who I call names. I love that you think Saddam just decided to give up his WMD. Dumb isn't one of the things I've called you but now is as good as any time to start.

Posted by: Karol at October 5, 2004 07:50 PM

Karol:

How do you consider Kerry just as guilty as Dubya? Which one is (supposedly) running the damn country?

Posted by: Don Myers at October 5, 2004 08:03 PM

Don, Kerry voted to allow Bush to do what he is doing. If Bush is evil, then Kerry is stupid AND evil.

Posted by: Karol at October 5, 2004 08:21 PM

Karol - I am so sad to read that you love Wal-Mart. Really. And I'm sending you an email about why you should not love it. (And no, it has nothing to do with locking the workers in overnight or anything else our lovely media has focused on.)

Posted by: Sara at October 5, 2004 11:16 PM

Karol:

Does this mean you consider Bush evil?

Posted by: Don Myers at October 6, 2004 10:18 AM

At least Cheney would never lie in a debate.

Posted by: Rick Blaine at October 6, 2004 01:15 PM

I'm sure Karol is lying. There is no way that this is the first time that she has called Rick "dumb."

Posted by: Ugarte at October 6, 2004 03:26 PM

I just re-read your post. You say "all those times," but the link only identifies one time.
