Dumb ideas.
Dean Esmay has a great post on the nightmare proposal to split up Colorado's electoral college vote. If passed, it would work retroactively, applying to this election. It is a really bad idea, read Dean for some reasons why.

I'm against it if Kerry wins the state, for it if Bush wins.

Posted by: Karol at October 7, 2004 06:45 PMwow, thanks. However, sucking up to me is not going to help you with all the "what do you think this is" explaining you've got coming.
Posted by: Dawn Summers at October 7, 2004 06:48 PMThe best thing about the article is the Constitutional conundrum posed by the Colorado ballot initiative. Fun interpretive food for thought. I tend to think that he is right; a ballot initiative is not an act of the state Legislature.
Otherwise, I think Maine has exactly the right idea. I don't like that a vote in Wyoming is worth so much more than a vote in New York, and I'm in favor of measures like divided electoral votes to minimize the small-state weighting.
