"pink" is the color commonly associated with girls. She is obviously shortening "my little 'pink' ones," as opposed to the 'blues' that were born, to "pinkies." That said, I echo everyone's sentiment that it is gross to make fun of her for however she handles such a loss.

I don't think the link was made to make fun of Heinz' miscarriages but rather to further demonstrate the hypocracy of the pro-infanticide crowd. If she believe her miscarried children are in heaven then where does she think the over 41 million murdered children are? Worse she used to be strongly anti-abortion before someone told her you can't have that position and be acceptable as a Dem.

I would think the BEST way to handle such a question, without stirring any controversy, would be to acknowledge it, and say "Yes, it was a hard time, but we got through it." (Or since she's running for 1rst Lady, include, "because of the strength of our marriage.") But to give a name like "Pinkies" conjures up images; and miscarried babies in heaven...again creepy.

Sort of beside the point, isn't it? I don't think the pinkies are in heaven any more than an aborted fetus is, but I'm an athiest. I certainly wouldn't make fun of a woman who regretted having an abortion.

Hard to say. It was much easier when limbo was still kosher. When it comes to the next world, I hope all who deserve it are saved but only God knows. The question of universalism has been kicked around in my tradition since at least Origen in the third century. Certainly I hope that most will be (the exceptions of Hitler and Judas and so on). But do I know ? Of course not. But we can hope.

As for the Democrats being the "pro-infanticide crowd" I totally agree. But I will be blunt. I fear that soon we will have two pro-infanticide parties. Where was Henry Hyde in New York ? Where was Rick Santorum ? I remember seeing the defenders of this barbaric practice from the governors of NY and California to the current and former mayors of NYC to the secretary of state. When this adminstration-and yes, Santorum- had a choice in the Keystone state, they backed Arlen Specter, an anti life advocate who looks like the next chairman of the judiciary committee. If Bush wins, with Arlen in that chair, I expect a lot more Souters. I think too many Christian conservatives have abandoned their principles for power and we can not serve God and Mammon both.

But, yes, wile the Republicans are bad on this issue (and getting worse I am afraid), the Democrats are much much worse.

Judas was destined for the role he played in Jesus' death and could not have had the cup pass from him anymore than Jesus himself could have avoided cruxifiction. In the end, Judas himself hated what he did so much that he killed himself, but humanity was saved...

All very true but remember as Jesus Himself says in Matthew 26:

"The Son of man goeth as it is written of him: but woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! it had been good for that man if he had not been born. Then Judas, which betrayed him, answered and said, Master, is it I? He said unto him, Thou hast said."

Upon these words, tradition has it that Judas is in one of the worst parts of Hell. Dante puts him in the lowest level along with Brutus and Cassius. As a devotee of republican government, I have been more than a little ticked at Dante for that over the years.

While I casually threw his name out there, I may have been wrong in doing so. Is it possible for Judas to be forgiven ? I like to hope so, kind of like the classic U2 song "Till the End of the World." Bad movie by the way. One of my favorite books is "The Master and Margarita" which ends with Jesus leading Pilate to heaven. Perhaps even Judas will be saved. If so, it would offer me much a great deal of solace. Till then I wait and hope.

That was her body experiencing growth and development and then rejection of bodily tissues, her self in planning and dreaming and then having hopes dashed. So, I guess it makes sense you can't really know exactly what she was feeling physically and emotionally. Perhaps such experiences happening to yourself would be too horrifying to imagine.

Of course, her experience is personal and the most anyone can do to relate is listen and guess at what it must have felt like to be her at that time. You seemed to have imagined that her unwanted miscarriages are the same as someone else's choice of abortion. And you also seem to be suggesting just because she placed a value on her personal experiences of pregnancy that she can only respect people who feel and think the same as herself. In this way, you've converted her personal ordeals (which involves no choice) into your own incomprehension of how she could possibly respect another woman's different dilemma (involving a choice). All this for what? To make a political point?
