Can I get away with a sirenless 'Developing.......'

A teacher at Ft. Lewis college in Durango, Colorado kicked a student in the shins for wearing a College Republican t-shirt.......Developing......

UPDATE: Apparently, there are a lot of witnesses to the professor kicking the guy and saying 'I should kick you harder and higher'. Should be in the news soon, I think.

The school newspaper where I work polled the faculty. Any guesses on the results? 88% favored Kerry.

Well....I can think of a worse place top be kicked.

Moral of the story: if you're going to wear a College Republican T-shirt to your Economics class, which happens to be taught by a Marxist, you should wear shin guards.

Note: I have no idea what class said Prof. was teaching. But still, it's a good lesson.

Where did you get that news from? Just curious.

Also, I highly recommend watching Brainwashing 101 - a documentary on political correctness by Evan Maloney - or trailer thereof, I'm not sure, it's avalable on the Web at A must see.

I heard it from a guy in that CR group. They're getting the story out right now. I've already contacted Evan.

Sounds like an anonymous source. Doesn't that violate the standards of this blog?

Ivan, I saw the 40-minute preview of Brainswashing 101 at that conservative film festival here in Dallas. Pretty good. Hope to heck UT Austin doesn't end up in the finished product.

I'm giving you a Drudge-like heads up. It will probably be in the press, names and all, soon.

Posted by: Karol at October 26, 2004 01:29 PM

Offensive, sure, but is "Liberal Colorado Professor Is Also A Dick" really headline material?

Posted by: ugarte at October 26, 2004 01:37 PM

So, does that mean it shouldn't be news?

Posted by: Karol at October 26, 2004 01:39 PM

No, it just seems uot of place next to the al QaQaa story. Even next to the "met with Security Council story" - and that one doesn't seem to have ANY traction.

I sure want to know which prof it is and what the school will do about it before I give anymore money to the alumni association. I understand why those without ties to *The Campus in the Sky* may not be that interested, but I sure am. In fact, I may get in touch with a friend who works there to find out the inside skinny.

Posted by: Polly at October 26, 2004 04:18 PM

Go for it, Polly, and let us know. My friend who told me this story today will keep me updated too and I will post as soon as I know anything.

Posted by: Karol at October 26, 2004 04:26 PM

I too have tried to call the school to hear what they say but alas... no answer. Very sketchy.

Shawn, it wouldn't surprise me. I'm sure they could give Bob Jensen a starring role.

Man, I miss seeing the bemused looks from those guys in the University Socialist Organization when I'd tell them "Sorry, I'm a Republican," every time they'd ask me to sign some asinine petition on the West Mall.

Or Max Cleaver. I had him for Principles of Macroeconomics. It was that class I had my first "Well, this sure as hell isn't high school." moment.

Saw the kid yesterday. He is filing charges. Says the press will write about it then.

Posted by: Karol at October 27, 2004 04:16 PM

Filing charges? For what? That professor clearly was taking necessary pre-emptive action under the Bush Doctrine.

I haven't seen the papers yet this morning. Did it make the front page nationwide?

Posted by: Rick Blaine at October 29, 2004 12:02 PM

The article is in the Durango Herald today. No word from my contact at the college. He must be ignoring me, but I'm sure he's just shaking his head over this one.
