Can I get a wooo wooo.
How about that George W. Bush getting the first majority of the popular vote since his father in 1988. Bill Clinton never hit that 50% mark, and obviously neither did Bush the last time around. Is that a mandate or what?
Update: Drudge has this: BUSH BREAKS ALL-TIME POPULAR VOTE TOTAL, SURPASSING REAGAN...

I was just about to email you about the popular vote. Isn't that incredible? I am waiting for the Peggy Noonan book about it.
Posted by: Dorian at November 3, 2004 03:52 AMI'd put that one in the SWEET column.
Posted by: Kin at November 3, 2004 06:23 AMSWEET.
I hope the Kerry crew grows a spine and concedes sometime today.
Let me be the first. Wooo Wooo!
Posted by: Kingslasher at November 3, 2004 07:21 AMKerry's busily beaching the Democratic boat. (And burning out the motor in the process).
Posted by: Mark Poling at November 3, 2004 08:49 AMAnd a Beep Beep!!
Posted by: Lisa at November 3, 2004 09:00 AMThat is nice to see. Add a few new men who have put principle ahead of party (I am thinking SC and Oklahoma) in the Senate, knock off Daschle and this was a good day for conservatives as well as the Republican Party. Alas the only Republican I was rooting against (Specter who I think the GOP should toss as chair of the Judiciary Cmttee if there are going to be some SCOTUS appointees in the near future) won. But still a good night. And if the president continues to hedge his bets on gay marriage and civil unions, 11 states made their voices heard last night.
Posted by: Von Bek at November 3, 2004 09:05 AMHere's hoping that the delay in the concession speech means that when it finally comes, it'll be a true concession speech without the spectre of litigation looming behind it.
Posted by: Alceste at November 3, 2004 09:33 AMKarol, us minor bloggers really, really appreciate your work during this election season.
Here's to a major defeat for demagoguery and a restoration of faith in the majority of American voters.
Thank you.
Posted by: michael parker at November 3, 2004 09:37 AMThat total makes it especially sweet since young Ron has been so defensive about his father and young Bush "not being at all alike". He was just so obnoxious on Hardball last night. I think even Chris Matthews flinched at the vitriol. WOOOO WOOOO!!
Posted by: Ruth H at November 3, 2004 10:03 AMMmm, I have this incredible warm fuzzy feeling.
Posted by: candace at November 3, 2004 10:24 AMHas anyone seen an accurate count of the number of provisional ballots in Ohio?
Posted by: Alecste at November 3, 2004 10:46 AMAlecste:

135,149 provisional ballots issued.
It's over.
Posted by: Mark Poling at November 3, 2004 11:04 AMGloat while you can kids. The pre-Enlightement thinkers among you worked very hard, and you pulled off a victory. Feel free to enjoy it.
But you didn't win. Bush won. You lost. You just don't know it yet.
Next year, when one of your friends gets killed because a mentally ill ex-con could legally buy a handgun and teflon bullets...maybe then you'll realize you lost.
Five years from now when your sister has to carry her rapist's child to term because she no longer has legal control over her own body...you might start to figure out that you lost.
Ten years from now when your kid is dying from cancer because of heavy metals leeched into the groundwater completely legally under Bush environmental regulations...who knows? Maybe it might dawn on you how badly you lost.
So laugh it up while you can...you've earned it.
Posted by: Don Myers at November 3, 2004 11:15 AMIf you've checked Drudge or the AP in the last few minutes, it looks like this is finally over. Congrats to President Bush and congrats to Karol for fighting the good fight.
Posted by: Shawn at November 3, 2004 11:15 AMDon: Republicans added votes in the House AND Senate (continuing a trend over a decade long), AND picked up more Governor's spots (which is the main breeding ground for future Presidents). More people voted republican than EVER before.
OUR IDEOLOGY KICKED YOUR IDEOLOGY'S ASS.
Suck it up, monkey. Suck it ALL up.
Posted by: DaveP. at November 3, 2004 12:01 PMDon, suck on my fat Irish dick. We won and you certainly lost. A feeling I'm sure you know very well.
If anyone expected a gracious winner out of me you're sadly mistaken. They don't deserve grace. Look how they comported themselves the entire time.
I expect many more of you will join me in the obnoxious brigade!
Posted by: Radical Redneck at November 3, 2004 03:23 PMDon,
My sister won't be raped because she owns a handgun filled with teflon bullets with which she'll blow away the would be rapist.

Posted by: Karol at November 3, 2004 10:48 PMYep, worth a big wooo wooo. Thanks to the massive turnout, Kerry also received more votes than any other president. Your point is caller ?
Simple: The population is larger today than it was 20 years ago.
