Remember the Veterans

If you want to do something nice today for our troops serving around the world, send them a pizza or other goodies. And, if you're into that sort of thing, a prayer for their safety wouldn't be the worst.

I am taking a WWII class now. I learned the depth of the American commitment to freedom around the world in WWII.
16,000,000 men and women in uniform
300,000 deaths
300,000 wounded
Except of course for that douchebag John Kerry who just makes you throw up in your mouth.
Posted by: Dawn Summers at November 11, 2004 10:44 AMWait! You're saying John Kerry is a veteran of some sort? What war was he in? First I've heard of it. If it's true he really should have emphasized that more in his campaign and especially at the convention. It might have put him over-the-top.
Posted by: Eric Deamer at November 11, 2004 11:24 AMAs staggering as those numbers Jake provides are, I am reminded that the proportion of those numbers are paltry compared to 2% of the American population who died in the War Between the States. Just remember that a country with a population one ninth the size of ours lost three times the number we lost on 9/11 in the span of one day along a creek in Maryland. It is not just America's commitment to freedom around the world that should be honored; it is our commitment to freedom at home (even if we disagree on what that freedom should be).
Posted by: Von Bek at November 11, 2004 11:58 AMYeah, he commanded a swift boat in Vietnam. Receieved three purple hearts. I'll send you a link if I can find any stories about it on the net.
Posted by: Dawn Summers at November 11, 2004 11:59 AMKerry is respected as a veteran (or, as much as a veteran that comes home and craps on the troops still there can be) but not as a Commander in Chief. Nothing wrong with that.
Posted by: Karol at November 11, 2004 02:06 PMYou really want to honor veterans? End the for-profit war of occupation!
Every day, brave Americans are dying to protect the third quarter profit reports of DynaCorp.
