What Jonah Goldberg calls 'the flexibility of Bush hatred'
Ace has a story about the whiny lefty group Media Matters complaining that Brit Hume was mean to Juan Williams. Dawn Summers is meaner than that on her good days, Hume did nothing wrong in the exchange.
What's interesting to me about the story is the nature of the disagreement between Hume and Williams. Williams calls Bush's nominees 'yes men' and says that we don't know their positions on anything beyond that they agree with Bush.
Isn't that funny?
Not so long ago, Bush was the guy who was so stupid that his staff was there to think for him.
Now he is the master manipulator, able to control his staff's every thought, able to create an army of Cabinet members who think exactly as he does. I can hear him cackling now.

Cognitive dissonence and irrational hatred compliment each other.
Posted by: RonL at November 23, 2004 04:07 AMJuan's argument was rediculous. I saw it. He was essentially upset because Bush is appointing people who are ideologically similiar with him to his cabinet. But who else would he appoint? Nancy Pelosi? Juan's whole argument is rooted in the fact that he thinks Bush is wrong and wants balance in the cabinet. I don't remember Juan advocating for Clinton to make Jerry Fallwell Secretary of Education.
Posted by: Dorian at November 23, 2004 10:50 AMThe inconsistency is nothing new. One minute he's a cowboy with a funny face and a finger up his nose, getting dragged around by Rumsfeld, the next his plans are Hitler-esque ideas about taking over the world and killing everyone he doesn't like.
I wouldn't say it's a 'debate,' but the Bush-haters get into this a lot themselves, where someone will write "I'm scared, Bush is so evil!" and someone else will argue that they should be scared, but not because he's evil, but because he's stupid.
I don't think it will end.

Posted by: Bond Girl at November 23, 2004 11:29 AMThe Diversity of Cabinent argument is hillarious. If and when we have a Democratic President we must remind ourselves to "shout from the rooftops" for diversity.

1. Don't think Bush is evil per se. He is a christian fundamentalist who attaches too much importance to the bible for the position he holds but not evil.
2. he is stupid or at least manages to make himself look stupid. Feel he is not a meglomaniac who insists on like-minded figures to control. most presidents look for like-minded people to work with. Look at Blair in UK.
3. The problem as i see it is not Bush, as i still see him more as a daddy's boy with a cabinet of his daddys cronies. the real menace is or now was, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Pearle and Ashcroft. PNAC in otherwords who have too much influence on US foreign policy.
