Cheap or creative?

A wedding cake made entirely of Hostess products.

Cheap. And not nearly as tasty as the Krispy Kreme wedding cake.
Posted by: Dawn Summers at November 23, 2004 08:09 PMNeither. It's genius.
Posted by: Shawn at November 23, 2004 08:11 PMI gotta wonder if the marriage will be as empty as the calories in that cake.
Posted by: Bruce at November 23, 2004 10:57 PMThat is so f-ckin hot! If there are pigs in the blanket at the reception, that's a dream woman.
Posted by: ken at November 23, 2004 11:56 PMi'd do away with the twinkies and sno balls. (does anyway really like twinkies? honestly.) the rest can stay, especially the creme filled cupcakes. those are divine.
Posted by: Jessica at November 24, 2004 12:35 AMI love it.
Posted by: Dorian at November 24, 2004 12:36 AMThat looks fun!!! =D
I'll leave it up to the girl to decide what she wants for the wedding cake though (or anything else pertaining to the wedding). But first I have to find the girl...
Posted by: MarkW at November 24, 2004 01:35 AMOn the upside: when the couple wants to celebrate an anniversary, the cake will taste the exact same as it did on their wedding day. What's the halflife of Twinkies? 1000 years? Mmmm, yellow dye #6.
Betcha it was a BYOB reception.
Posted by: Panic at November 24, 2004 05:33 AMI am a big fan of Ho Hos. It sure beats bass-fish shaped and Pabst Blue Ribbon inspired cakes I have seen here in the south.
Posted by: Michael C at November 24, 2004 07:12 AMWhat Ding-Dong designed this cake?
Posted by: matt at November 24, 2004 08:03 AMJesus! Who would want to spend the first day of their married life together with loose bowels, a raging sugar headache, and a pre-diabetic insulin rush?
To each their own, I guess...but YUCK! The idea of people eating this crap just makes me shudder in disgust...
Posted by: Don Myers at November 24, 2004 09:57 AMgross...makes me sick just looking at it.
Not at all for the design (which I love), but just the plastic-greasy taste Hostess products are known for.
Just awful. Simply awful! It hurts. Can that marriage last? So cheesy. Ughh! Sickening
Posted by: Toby: thoughtnow.blogspot.com at November 24, 2004 10:38 AMI like it.
Posted by: Peter at November 24, 2004 12:10 PMThe best wedding dessert I ever saw was a white chocolate swan with pudding inside it. To get the pudding out (I kid you not), you had to stick your spoon into a hole in the swan's ass. It was so gross, but tasty as hell - sort of like this cake.
Posted by: Princess Anonymous at November 24, 2004 01:20 PMBrilliant. My favorite wedding cake was a Baskin Robbins ice cream cake with a picture of a traditional wedding cake screened onto the top.
Not as good as eating pudding out of a swan's ass, I'll admit, but tasty nonetheless.
Posted by: pearatty at November 24, 2004 01:57 PMCheap and tacky. Awesome for a rehearsal dinner gag though.
Posted by: Bond Girl at November 24, 2004 02:04 PMI like it!! ALL wedding cakes are too sweet by far, so why not go for the real thing! This probably does not have as much saturated fat as a "traditional" wedding cake. Well, at least not more fat. And why spend $250 plus for a wedding cake?
Posted by: Ruth H at November 24, 2004 02:48 PMit might be cute for the wedding of the hostess heir.
Posted by: Dawn Summers at November 24, 2004 03:40 PMI have to say it really disappoints me that the most violent opposition came from the left. Those liberals with their elitist cake preferences are so out of touch.
On the other hand, if the cake INSIDE the Hostess exterior is Hostess all the way down I'd be unimpressed.
Posted by: ugarte at November 25, 2004 09:24 AMDid Bill Clinton fill the creme cupcakes?
Posted by: Radical Redneck at November 25, 2004 12:41 PMQuite obviously, the Food Network has too much influence in American life.
Posted by: Partisan Political Operative at November 25, 2004 04:56 PMHow do you CUT the damn thing?
Posted by: Jay at November 26, 2004 12:39 AMAt the risk of having Karol call me pompous:
Excuse me Ugarte, I believe I said the cake was "brilliant."
Score one for the left.
Posted by: pearatty at November 26, 2004 08:13 PMI like the top (the groom and bride ornament).
As for the cake.... It is funny to look at, but not funny to have at your wedding.
Simply Genius !
Posted by: Akyles at March 1, 2008 09:47 PMI think it's great...just take away those horrible looking pink things...yuck.
I had a Krispy Kreme wedding cake and everyone LOVED it.
And besides, now we can tell each other when they go to the store to "pick up so wedding cake".:-)
Posted by: LancasterPrincess at March 4, 2008 05:37 PMHa. I think it's awesome.
Posted by: Liz at March 17, 2008 11:28 AMwow people are so harsh
i've been cake decorating for about six years and i've got to say this is the most creative cake i've seen yet!

SNOBALLS ARE AMAZING
