If this was my party, I'd be embarrassed.
Democrats challenge Ohio votes.
As Red State poster Streiff noted, in a privately published exchange, 'Between the Gonzales hearing and this, it is truly a day that will live in buffoonery.'

It was a bad day for the Dems.
Having said that, it was also a bad day for conservatives as a pro-abortion AG nominee was going before a pro-abortion Senate chairman.
Posted by: Von Bek at January 6, 2005 02:58 PMI'm working from home and I have the "proceedings" on C-SPAN tuned in. Two things that struck me:
1) Rep. Hayworth from Arizona is a fine speaker.
2) Someone early quipped about "the Boxer rebellion." That was priceless.
Add one more item of buffoonery: Kerry attacks Bush in Baghdad. Yes, he criticized the commander-in-chief in front of the troops. Among other things, he's upset that there are no Ba'athists in the Iraqi government.
Posted by: Yaron at January 6, 2005 03:10 PMOh please. When Republicans do embarrassing things, you just look the other way. Democrats do the same thing with their own party's asshats.
Posted by: Joe Grossberg at January 6, 2005 03:31 PMI don't think it was embarrasing at all. They weren't trying to unseat the election. They were addressing some pretty damn serious election flaws in Ohio and elsewhere. While trying to bring democracy to Iraq, shouldn't we take a moment to look inward when so many think problems exist?
Joe, Name one embarrassing thing that I didn't call the Republicans on.
Tobes, What were the 'serious' election flaws?
Posted by: Karol at January 6, 2005 03:56 PMWhy does it matter what the AGs views on abortion are? I thought he was part of the executive branch which enforces laws, not makes or interprets them, but maybe I'm missing something.
Posted by: Eric Deamer at January 6, 2005 05:45 PMMy concern is his stewardship of the Justice Department and who get the appointments for the next four years. To be blunt, Eric, I think that American politics is increasingly coming down to a battle over the judiciary, from the SCOTUS on down and the people running the Justice Department have a lot of sauy in the matter. There is also the question of enforcemtn. I think while the laws remained much the same, John Aschcroft's Justice Department would enforce them very differently than say Janet Reno's or Ramsey Clark's.
I do think the battle over Gonzales is only a fraction as ugly as the next SCOTUS appointment will be.
Posted by: Von Bek at January 6, 2005 05:56 PMKarol: Toby is right.
The Democrats engage in massive voter fraud in 25 of the largest cities in the US.
I hope and pray that the Democrats insist on verifiable voting and registration procedures. It would mean the end of the Democrat Party.
The only Democrat politician you would ever see is a gleam in someone's eye.

Posted by: Shawn at January 6, 2005 10:26 PMJake: I'm not sure I see that. But, if true, the fraud is going on on both sides and needs to be addressed. It is a serious new phenomenon that cannot be tolerated in ANY form.
Posted by: toby at January 6, 2005 10:52 PMThese days, finding an embarrased Democrat would be like finding an embarrassed personal injury lawyer.
