Finally.

CBS Fires 4 Over False Bush Report

Update: Mike Krempasky sends me this link which illustrates that Dan Rather is standing by the 'fake but accurate' mantra.

Another Update: Where is the left side of the blogosphere? Sundries Shack counts all of two mentions of the Rather story by left-leaning bloggers.

May their severance pay afford them lots of humble pie.

Nevermind... Shawn wins.

Dan and many more need to go. I am so tired of watching the 5:00 news. Journalism used to be such a noble profession. It's to bad we have so many that use and abuse it!!

Lets total up the score for the Bloggers. Through the investigative work of bloggers, these jerks are no longer working in MSM:

1. Jayson Blair of the NYT
2. Howell Raines of the NYT
3. Gerald Boyd of the NYT
3. Dan Rather of CBS.
4. CBS Senior Vice President Betsy West
5. CBS Executive Producer Josh Howard
6. Senior Broadcast Producer Mary Murphy
7. CBS 60 Minutes Producer Mary Mapes

This is so much fun.

Jake,

Did you just copy and paste your previously debunked comment?

Posted by: Dawn Summers at January 10, 2005 08:10 PM

Dawn:

My previous comment was not debunked. You had your information wrong. I just keep adding to the list of left-wing jerks sent to the unemployment line by Karol and her friends.

I just visited soto and read the comments, come on man, Karl Rove did it? Right. Unreal! These people just love to be miserable and will blame anything on anyone other than themselves! As Sorro say's, MOVE ON! Learn about personal responsiblity, take credit when you mess up or when you do well. And the potty mouths on them lefties, wow! A little upset are they. Jake, I say Chris Matthews and that other guy that follows him, Keith olbermoron. That's the next two.

I give bloggers some credit for cashiering Howell Raines- but Jayson Blair's firing had nothing to do with blogs. He was discovered when a San Antonio newspaper reporter saw that he plagiarized one of her stories.

Posted by: Steve at January 10, 2005 11:15 PM

Steve:

Jayson Blair would still be working at the NYT if it weren't for bloggers.

A blogger saw the duplicates and notified the reporter at the San Antonio newspaper and the NYT by email. The reporter then contacted the NYT.

Then other bloggers found more stories that Blair falsified or copied. As a result, Drudge picked up the story.

It was only after Drudge ran the story did the NYT launch an internal investigation.

Jake-

If that's what happened, it's never been reported anywhere, and I don't know what blog found it. According to this PowerLine post (and other news accounts), the reporter (Macarena Hernandez) discovered Blair's plagiarism herself, and called Howard Kurtz at the WaPo.

See, I told you the MSM is good for something.

That's true, and also Dan Rather still has (ironically enough) his 60 Minutes gig.

There's also some Australian reporter that Tim Blair managed to get fired, about six months ago, for making up an anti-immigrant quote.

Of course, if they worked for the Cheney White House, these four would have been given the Medal of Freedom and a cushy K Street consulting gig.
