Is there a British version of the expression 'I'm not holding my breath'?

Andrew Sullivan has this on the Tory party in Britain:

A TORY REVIVAL? Yes, the British Conservatives have finally decided to campaign as a lower-tax party. Halleluia. The notion that all government spending is good is buried deep in the British psyche - and nurtured by that statist creation, the BBC. But it can be challenged. And if the Tories are ever to regain the political initiative, cutting taxes on the poor and streamlining government will be their path back to power.

Now all they have to do is deal with cultural issues, immigration, welfare, and the EU.

The Conservatives can go for lower taxes all day long Labour will still win in 4 months time. They need to come up with a genuine alternative to Labour or having spent 18 years in power will spend the next 20 odd out of it.

Lower taxes are not the answer anyway.

Yeah I propose the radical idea that we should introduce a flat-rate 50% income-tax on all ex-pats. And 100% inheritence tax on expats so that when they die the UK crown takes their entire estate.
I estimate this would amount to about £15-20k million (US $30-40bln) extra revenue a year (and possibly more). Certainly enough to plug any Government shortfall (est £8k million next year).

The irony: America is about the only country that currently taxes ex-pats.. and it is supposedly non-socialist!
