Lyric of the day (a new, recurring feature)

My friend, and sometimes commenter, MKID, turned me on to this incredible song called 'Truth' by the Handsome Boy Modeling School. The lyrics are here. I recommend a listen, it's a beautiful woman's voice singing in the first part followed by some rap in the second. Despite my semi-obsession with rap lately, I prefer the woman singing:

'You can't hide from the truth
Because the truth is all there is
You can't hide from the truth
Because the truth is all there is
You can't hide from the truth
Because the truth is all there is
You can't hide'

Is that sarcasm or slang usage?

Posted by: Karol at February 23, 2005 01:16 PM

Ummm...have you read the lyrics? I'm going to go with sarcasm on this one! At least maybe if it was "you can't handle the truth" we'd at least get pleasant Jack Nicholson warm fuzzies.

I was afraid the lyrics wouldn't work in print. Just trust me and listen to the song and you'll be singing 'You can't hide from the truth, Because the truth is all there is' too.

This song is just SIX WORDS LONG,
This song is just SIX WORDS LONG.

Anyone? Anyone?

No, that's just the chorus.

Go listen to the song, people, you won't be disappointed.

Is that the one with Cat Power singing?

Posted by: Jessica at February 23, 2005 02:49 PM

Is that who that is?! We were trying to figure it out.

Posted by: Karol at February 23, 2005 03:11 PM

It's not Cat Power, it's the singer from a band called Moloko. She sounds like the chick from Portishead.

Wow, thats some hefty wordcraft. ;)
'Bout as deep as the ink on a John Al Q'erry campaign flyer!
Truth,,lofty pursuit,, I try to respect the fascination of others with what they cannot achieve.
Anyone for some kumbaya cakes?
