Quite Understandable. If the public face of my party was Randall Terry, Fred Dobson, and Fred Phelps, I'd be a little reluctant to announce my party affiliation as well.

Not to surprising I don't think being that Democrats associate themselves with the party while most Republicans are only Republicans because it is the party that is most closely aligned with their beliefs.

If the GOP blew up tomorrow (I didn't do it) and it was Libertarians vs. the Dems, I would wager the percentages to be roughly the same as they are today.

Again, I do *not* plan to blow up the GOP. ;^)
