A punking ends in divorce?

I caught a few minutes of the MTV show 'Punk'd' last night and Ashton Kutcher alluded to Shannon Elizabeth divorcing her husband because he punk'd her. The premise of the show, for those who live in a cave and haven't heard of it, is that someone gets set up, usually by friends and relatives. For example, Justin Timberlake's mom set him up to believe that he was broke and having his stuff repossessed. At one point, he's on his cell phone and the fake repo-men ask him 'whose cellphone is that?' as if they're going to take it. Watch zillionaire Timberlake lie and say it belongs to a friend. A hoot. Anyway, apparently, Shannon Elizabeth's husband got her good in a pretty embarrasing way. For the record, I too do not take well to practical jokes.

Practical jokes are tricky things. I play some every year on April 1. This year's went over OK, but not great. It all started because my friend played pranks on me in college, and the last straw was a really mean and humiliating one. And since, I have sworn my revenge on her.

I don't really prank anyone else but her, because I know she can take a good joke. (But even she didn't really love my joke on her this year.)

I guess my advice for pranksters is to know your target well, and make sure you're not hitting a really sensitive nerve.

Not that you asked.

Pranks are awesome! Shannon E was just trying to get out of that marriage. Have you seen the guy?
Ick.

she did a "while you were out" episode where she re-did a room for him. they looked all googly eyed and in love. i was kinda surprised to hear about the split.

I am always suspicious of over-googly-eyed people. The real deal is a lot more subtle.

If the nature of the prank was that he made her think a real (but private) sex tape had gone public, that would be a good enough reason to drop him back into obscurity. Humor that relies on another person experiencing actual pain is sadism.

So what you're saying here is … she's back on the market?

(In retrospect, I'll pass. That freaky "burning sage to cleanse my aura" thing she did on that celebrity poker show was so annoying that the annoying actually reached through my TV and into my soul, annoying me from a distance.)

"I too do not take well to practical jokes"

If that's not a invitation to getting pranked, I don't know what is...

There's nothing better than convincing a friend's girlfriend that your friend has just been killed in a car wreck.

Now that's comedy.

The repeated high-velocity shoe to the head you get when the prank is revealed is sooo NOT comedy, however.

Texas girls don't take that crap.

Don't know why she was so upset. I think she just wants a divorce. The prank wasn't such a big deal. How long did they trick her 10 minutes? big deal. If she was really pissed, she wouldn't let them use the tape for the show.

We are talking about a woman who essentially masturbated on camera in American Pie and is more famous for her breasts than any other qualities or attributes.

Hey, careful. That's what they said about Margaret Thatcher too.
