Why do I feel like I can get away with sillier posts on Fridays?
I present to you the current love of my life (in homage to the girls at Candied Ginger):

These Rochas shoes were a gift from my mother. She had accompanied me to the world-famous, and deservedly so, Barney's warehouse sale.

The pricetag said $1115.00, reduced to $400. It was the last day of the sale and they were reduced a further 50%. Even though my mom was buying, I felt that $200 was still outrageous for shoes (even the most perfect pair of shoes in the whole world). She insisted I get them. I said I would not be able to accept them if they were one penny over $200, with tax included.
When I got to the register, the woman somehow rang them up as $175, including tax, and the shoes were mine. So, thanks mom, they make me very happy.
I wasn't planning on going out this weekend but with the weather in the 60's, I am now looking for an excuse to take these babies for a spin. Watch out world.

Posted by: Lisa at April 8, 2005 03:18 PMK, you shouldnt even hAVE SHOES THAT ARE LESS THEN $200 unless they are beach slippers and those sometimes can get pricey too.
Posted by: MDone at April 8, 2005 03:25 PMWhat the hell is it about shoes...women insist on a guy being taller than her, and then go out of their way to make it more difficult.
This, by the way, is Thing that Pisses Me Off #3b.
Posted by: Jay at April 8, 2005 04:40 PMThe shoes are definitely fantastic, but I think I'm more intrigued by the glimpse of Karol's extensive Anais Nin and Tom Robbins collection. And please, what Faber & Faber book is that?
Posted by: Todd at April 8, 2005 05:42 PMThere are three F+F books there, all by Hanif Kureishi. I love Anais Nin, don't think much of Tom Robbins but picked up two of his books on recommendations. Maybe I'll post a picture of my book collection sometime, might be more interesting than even sexy shoes.
Posted by: Karol at April 8, 2005 06:03 PMDoes this mean this site is no longer "work-safe", at least on Fridays?
Posted by: Mark Poling at April 9, 2005 06:38 PMThose. Shoes. Are. Amazing.
Screw the price tag - you got $1115 shoes for $175. That is blessed, I tell you. Blessed.
I'm a big fan of sales like that - there's nothing better than wearing thousand dollar clothing for a tenth of the price. I also understand the desire to not wear crazily priced things - my one $500 suit is still in the Macy's plastic-wrap-bag in the back of the closet (and I paid $50 for it, and it's adorable, with pleats and pinstripes and stuff)- but we all should have SOMETHING nice. And... stuff. You rock those shoes, girl.

Posted by: candy girl at April 12, 2005 02:33 AMFantastic. I think we need to plan a blogger party JUST to celebrate these shoes!
