Red State is speculating that Bill Kristol has inside knowledge on who will be Bush's pick (he also knew in advance that O'Connor would step down) and they don't think it's Gonzalez.

Janice Rogers Brown. She was just confirmed for the D.C. circuit, so it would take a lot of 'splainin' to oppose her immediately after. She doesn't yet have a record in the D.C. circuit to be attacked. AND Darth Vader Ginsburg will still have someone to gossip with in the Supreme Ladies' Room...
Posted by: Jay at July 5, 2005 12:25 PMIt could be that Kristol the Younger was simply close to O'Conner's people. Having said that, I hope this is correct and Bush names a conservative to the vacant spot.
Posted by: Von Bek at July 5, 2005 12:54 PMUh, in the same column where Kristol said O'Connor would step down, he also said the replacement would be Gonzales.
