Cathy Seipp transcribes a panel conversation between Mickey Kaus and Ana Marie, aka Wonkette and wonders why people don't take to her:

Mickey: Who do you hate?
Ana Marie (after a pause to think, and a comment that Bush is actually quite personable): I just can't stand Jonah Goldberg...

Mickey: Really? I think he's incredibly talented.

Ana Marie: Michelle Malkin...But these people are like cartoon characters.

Eventually they opened it up to questions from the audience, and someone said, "I'm a little surprised that with all the evil going on in Washington, the only people you can think of to hate are people most of us have never heard of."

And I remember somebody saying she's hot. I said it then, and I'll say it again: opinionated bitches are not hot.

I'm sorry - that wasn't fair. She's a lot like Maureen Dowd, except without the wide circulation, reader base, wit, and writing ability.

But seriously, if she were as talented and as able as she seems to think she is, she'd have a real job instead of schlepping for Nick Denton.

And Ana, honey, posting White House pool reports ain't the nuts. There's a reason the press doesn't really print those.

For the life of me, I will never understand why people think Wonkette is so "hot". Girl's got bad hair, bad skin, her jugs hang down practically past her knees. On the days she does wear a bra, it is apparent she has Panama Canal-type tracks where the straps to her bra are cutting in to her shoulder. Add to the fact that she lost out in a pissing contest with Washingtonienne, and that reveals her intellect to be somewhere around the caliber of Nancy Pelosi or Barbara Boxer. Blecch.

Wow, the stupidity of Nancy Pelosi no longer has to be asserted; it's merely presupposed as a reference point for gauging the stupidity of someone else. Has this come about solely as a result of her comparison of the Supreme Court to God?
