Moronic moral equivalence
Not only does a NY Times editorial say that 'sanity has not been the norm so far on either side of the Israeli security barrier' (except I think it could be argued that the people not dressing their infants and toddlers in machine guns are actually sane) but it also makes this really stunning proclamation.

"No reasonable person can doubt that the Hamas attacks hurt the Palestinians more than the Israelis"
is the israeli state in shambles? no. is there an israeli civil war going on? no. how many palestinians have been killed in the intifada versus israelis? many more.
the palestinians are worse off than ever, due to their embracing hamas, radical islam, and suicide bombers. israel, despite the attacks, is strong and relatively intact (gaza being a point of debate).
so why exactly is the quote so stunning?
