First they came for the cigarettes but I wasn't a smoker so I did nothing. Then they came for the cupcakes....

Mmm... Bloomberg in my lungs AND in my belly?? I can't wait til he declares his choice of MY contraceptive use. The trifecta awaits...

Yep, good bye Magnolia's. It's completely rediculous. This is one thing we should be accountable for outselves, watching what you eat. You can obtain a diet, even in restaurants, low in TF if you try. I've been arguing with DL about it all day. However, if TF costs the taxpayers money for public assistance for fat-asses, I'm all for taxing it.

Another option would be to stop subsidizing fat-assery.

Yeah, Jay, and I'm sure we can breakout all those health issues the government currently has a hand in financing on the clinical and research level. Probably not. It would probably be more realisitic (unless you want to cut all medical research/clinical governmental grants, which, for some reason I don't doubt) to try and equate a value to TF.

I think Magnolia Bakery is about seventy times more over-rated than Six Feet Under... but great, great headline Karol.

I thought you were referring to disability checks for diseases stemming from obesity. Of course I don't mind the public sector throwing bucks towards medical R&D.

But with regards to the topic at hand (trans fats) I believe in gov't not impeding people from doing whatever they want to themselves, then not impeding the consequences that do them in. Same thing with smoking or seatbelts.

I feel like Ken keeps trying to subtly tell me 'I don't want to be your friend anymore'.

Dude, we're still friends, but I can't believe the hype around that place. Cupcakes made from Betty Crocker box mix are better than Magnolia's stale-ass cupcakes with that cloyingly sweet frosting with the awful texture. I walk by that place on a Saturday night and see the fools lined up around the block (because in New York, nothing spreads like herpes and "buzz" about unworthy restaurants) and I want to scream at them, call them all chumps and then visit violence upon their heads. And the odd thing is they're all frickin skinny. That oughta tell you something right there.

Have u tried Bill's on 10th somewhere around 20th? Just as yummily unworthy as Mag's

Posted by: toby at August 11, 2005 05:45 PM

Whew. Now it just sounds like you're trying to stop being friends with Dawn Summers.

Poor Kenny... so priviledged, so angry...

You can still eat what you want and restaurants can still serve what they want.
Let's not get hysterical about nothing.
You can still have your cake and eat it too.
