Can you 'smear' someone by just quoting them?

Cindy Sheehan:

*I'm going all over the country telling moms: "This country is not worth dying for."*

*We might not even have been attacked by Osama bin Laden if 9/11 was their Pearl Harbor to get their neo-con agenda through and, if I would have known that before my son was killed, I would have taken him to Canada. I would never have let him go and try and defend this morally repugnant system we have.*

*We are waging a nuclear war in Iraq right now.*

man... I really hope Dubya's neighbor confuses this Loon for a dove.

She has been a part of the loony left for a long time. I bet her son was ashamed of her and joined the army as an act of rebellion. And he wanted to offset the damage she has done with her causes.

If there is anyone to blame for his death, it is Cindy.

You know what really gets me is that she is so blinded by her own agenda that she doesnt even respect her own sons selflessness that provided her with the right to even share with us her misguided thoughts and disrespect of every woman and man that puts on the uniform and dies for me and this country.

Poor Casey Sheehan really - his mother is such a disgrace to what he fought for and his memory. Pity someone can't point that out to her.

Posted by: Ari at August 16, 2005 12:11 PM

Do you want her to just shut up and cry, K? I bet you don't. You're getting all this great stuff to slam her with! But, Cindy Sheehan isn't a politician with a message, a sophisticated blogger savy in past and present events or a great verbal advocate for any cause. The point isn't everything she says, although I think we should listen to her because it has meaning. The point is who she is and the sacrifice she has made.

Standing in her shoes, after making the sacrifice she has made, I could easily say myself this country isn't worth dying for even though I believe it is and you'd bet your ass I'd be standing out there mixing as many insane comments with the sane as I could.

Well then why did she never pack her family up and go? This is a clear cut case of "if you hate it so much - there's the damn door". This isn't Cuba, she isn't stuck here. Let her give these speeches from Canada - I surely hope not a penny of my tax dollars ever goes to this misguided, delusional woman.

Her son obviously signed up for the army... ?? Can't she respect him?

This is ridiculous. She probably was a little crazy before and went totally nuts after her son's death. That's all I can gather.

Heh, after so many of MY tax dollars went to the innauguration of that criminal, I hope at least a few of my tax dollars are going to protecting those in camp Casey from renegade rednecks attaching chains on their trucks and driving through.

I think Rachel and Jake are dead on.
I know if this crackpot were my mom I'd have joined the mujahdeen to get away from her.

She met with President Bush last year and spoke highly of the meeting and of the President, while respectfully noting her problems with the war in general. Now, a year has passed and she is blasting President Bush, the United States and Israel. Her speeches are becoming increasingly incoherent. Her family has denounced her actions, her surviving son has begged her to stop and her husband is divorcing her. She needs our sympathy and she needs professional help. What she is getting instead is exploited by the lunatic fringe of the anti-war movement, opportunistic politicians and the mass media. In the end, they are going to let this woman destroy herself. Then they'll wash their hands and wait for another "ace card" to add to their hand. What will have been accomplished? One woman and her family will be in tatters.

No no Chris - you must be wrong. Democrats LOOOOVVVVE families. It's hateful Republicans looking to trash the family way ;)

She is a sad, sick woman.

Casey's probably sitting in heaven thinking: "Move on, Mom-just move on!" Get it? heh, heh, move on, heh, heh, heh....(sigh!)

"I would have taken him to Canada. I would never have let him go and try and defend this morally repugnant system we have."

Wait, wasn't her son a grown-up, capable of making his own decisions? She makes it sound like he was drafted or something.

God, that woman is delusional.

As an Iraq war veteran, I am disgraced by what this woman is doing. This is a slap in the face.

As an Iraq war veteran, I am proud of Ms. Sheehan, and she is doing the most American thing a person can do: she's standing up and fighting for what she believes in.
