The MTA is heaveb compared to the MBTA, the Boston subway system.

I never had too much trouble with the T in Boston, though I only used the subway at nights a few times a week when I was using it (red line). I hear the orange line is rat-infested and unreliable.

Also, it's clear my numbers are estimates (though taken from the MTA's site), but it also seems clear that if Bloomberg had to ride the subway every day, a lot more would happen a lot quicker to get subway stations cleaned and air-conditioned, and subway lines more reliable.

There are "estimates", and then there are "estimates". Saying there is a $3 billion annual surplus from fares alone when the agency is $500 million in the red, and earns only a fraction of its operating expenses from fares is not "estimating" -- it is somewhere between irresponsible and a lie.
