Indicted
Tom Delay has been indicted and has stepped down from his Majority leader position. Dennis Hasterst has picked David Dreier of California to replace him. The only thing I've ever heard about Dreier is that he's been the target of an outing campaign. The article I link notes:
Dreier can probably survive outing in his district and be re-elected, and it won’t hurt him much with Arnold and his cronies either. But Dreier’s days as a key member of the ultra-homophobic Hastert-DeLay House GOP leadership may be numbered.
Yep. Numbered.

But the truth is: real prejudice, real homophobia--real hatred for gayness--comes from "outers" themselves, who reveal private gay lifestyles their enemies as if there were something wrong with those lifestyles.

But why should we expect conservative values from the Republcian leadership ?
While I agree with this sentiment if this is a private affair, this guy has been accused of having an affair with his chief of staff who is on his payroll. That's a little troubling .

Days ? He had a few hours. Nice to see the Republicans shoot down Dreier's leadership bid.
Posted by: Von Bek at September 28, 2005 09:57 PMI am skeptical that Dreir sharing responsibilities with Blunt has anything to do with his sexual preference. Doc Hastings (R-WA) would have become Rules Chairman in Dreier's place, meaning the Ethics Committee would be shook up. I don't think Republicans want a big shake up in anthing more. Delay may or may not come back to a leadership position but why make more of a jigsaw to puzzle together if he does?
