Do you ever get the impression that every political leader on the Democratic side who came of age in the Vietnam Era will have to die before Liberals (as opposed to Democrats -- don't really think Clinton counted) will be viable as Presidential candidates?

Just wondering.

Do you ever get the impression that every political leader on the Republican side who came of age in the Vietnam Era will have to die before Conservatives (as opposed to Republicans-- don't really think Bush counts) will be viable as Presidential candidates?

Just wondering.

You should publish the whole quote:
Kennedy: I'll support Kerry in 2008, please pass the scotch.

Well, you know, imitation being the sincerest form of flattery, I have to say thank you, Von Beck.

But that's kind of the problem with the Left right now, isn't it? No new ideas, blessedly few new faces, and a faith that snark and dogma can win out against engagement and inquiry.

Nooooooo Mark. You've just fallen into Von Bek's trap. Now he's going to tell you about how conservative he is and how the party isn't conservative anymore and follow up with an anecdote about President Taft.

Actually it would be about Senator Robert Taft who is a bit more my style (though I would have voted for Big Bill Taft in 1912).

Ah. Well, he's got a point that the Republicans in Congress have developed a bad case of fiscal incontinence, and that Bush hasn’t helped. On the other hand, saying that Republicans are as bad as Democrats when it comes to spending doesn’t address the other areas where Republicans beat the crap out of Kerry- (or Dean-) style Democrats.

But it sure does change the subject, now doesn’t it?

BTW, your comments form does really weird things on my laptop; I keep getting a "template must be defined" error. (Hope I haven’t double-posted). Next time I see it I’ll copy the text and email it to you.

The template must be defined message means your comment is being held for my approval. Someday, I will fix that. Just comment once, don't repost, I check in pretty often.
