S-t-crooked I-d-e-s-

Chicago politician wants to ban 40oz beers.

I was a St. Ides fan in my youth, but most of the guys I hung out with drank Olde English 800 or Crazy Horse. I saw a lawyer drinking a 40 at a poker game recently. He fascinated the hell out of me sitting there with a 40 in his hand while I was drinking a 12 oz Brooklyn Lager. The politician's reason for wanting a ban? 'The people who buy this usually do not have the money to buy a six-pack or more.' O-k.

I was in high school back in the late 80s/early 90s when the local bodgeas and 24hr grocery shops around my old nabe Bklyn started carrying the 40s for Old E or St Ides. Quite a few of my friends used to buy them for the traditional Friday/Saturday after dark gatherings down at the park. Me, I tried it once or twice and hated it. Man, I was happy when Budweiser started selling 40s. At a buck seventy-five to two and a quarter depending on where you went, which meant that I had enough left over for a pack of smokes if need be.
Yep those were the days.
