Just like the mafia, except ineffective

Dawn Summers: "Who's a genius?"
Me: "Compared to Roger Toussaint, everybody"

If there were prizes for stupid, Roger Toussaint would take first place every time. New York's 3-Day transit strike has just ended.

Let's review: What have Toussant and his union accomplished?

Well, none of their demands have been met, New Yorkers despise them, they've been fined a million dollars a day, and the union leadership is facing jail time. The transit employees will be returning to work sans contract, which is where they were when this began.

Big win for unions. Big.

Well, they showed NYC what a pain in the ass they're capable of being.

It is too early to say if they won. I am still not convinced that the politicians won't cave into most of their demands. Remember that most of our elected officials are spineless.

New Yorkers despise them umm...for someone who hasn't left their couch in 28 days, I'm curious where you get your info from considering that polls show that most New Yorkers support the union and the strike.

No, dude: A WNBC/Marist poll published late on Wednesday showed 55 percent of New Yorkers opposed decision to strike, while 38 percent supported it.

The polls you cite were taken on the first day of the strike.

Yes, dude. "According to an exclusive NY1 poll, 41 percent of New Yorkers think both the MTA and the Transport Workers Union are to blame for the strike. About 27 percent solely fault the MTA while 25 blame the union for the walkout.

The poll does find, though, that 54 percent of New Yorkers think what the union wants is fair compared to 36 percent who do not."

In either case, even taking your numbers that 45% support the unions, you can hardly say "New Yorkers" despise them.

I think MTA shares the blame but the union has taken the stupidity prize and won't let it go.
Anyway, all both of us have proven is that polls are inaccurate.

Hateful towards the MTA and that stupid ass union weighing in!!!

I've discovered I can walk to and from work far quicker than I anticipated - that was a nice perk. The weather cooperated - even better. A gag order was put on that ignorant fool Toussaint finally silencing his idiocy and he's been outted for the wanna be thug that he is. But Dawn my dear - if you support them SO MUCH you should keep on walking and deprive the evil MTA of your money. Y'know - show your empathy why don't you.

To all the liberals here - Merry CHRISTmas!

Just for you.
