ID for me
I went to a good debate a few nights ago, on the topic of teaching Intelligent Design, as science, in public schools. While I don't believe that ID is science, and therefore don't believe it should be taught in science class, the pro-ID debater was really incredible. You can read the gist of his argument here. Even if this isn't a hot topic for you, like it isn't for me, his post is well worth a read.

I read his post. Is he really asking why federal judges are involved in Establishment Clause issues?
Never mind biology classes. It's time for remedial civics.
Posted by: Allah at January 7, 2006 03:18 PMYeah, he doesn't seem to actually make any arguments in favor of ID other than saying that "it seems plausible", but it's too complicated for him to determine, but experts are often wrong anyway.
So his premise is, what? That school boards should be able to permit teach anything that can't be "proven" false by impossibly high standards?
No one can "prove" that the universe wasn't created in 6 days by an omnipotent being, even if there is plenty of evidence otherwise. Plus, astrophysics is complicated and geologists often disagree on the age of the earth. So should we teach Intelligent Design of the whole universe -- and not just life -- by his standards?
I guess you had to be there for the actual debate, because his post itself is really, really weak. In his defense, he does call them "just some weak notes".
