The British Al Sharpton that, scarily, gets elected

Most people know that George Galloway is a joke. The fact that he's actually a member of parliament in Britain should be a source of embarrassment for Brits. And, no, even if you despise Bush, it's not a fair comparison to compare your George to ours. It would be the equivalent of Louisiana actually electing David Duke governor, instead of just coming awfully close.

Well, now Galloway is out in the open about being a clown. He's appearing on a reality show called 'Celebrity Big Brother', which is the British equivalent of 'Real World', with the celebrity version being most similiar to the American show 'Surreal Life'. Some must-see photos are here, with Galloway actually wearing a Cuba sweatshirt. We get it, you're a Communist, don't let the fact that it's a dead ideology that facilitated the death of millions of people stop you there, George. As they say in Britain: what a prat.

Via GOP Vixen, which also reports that Galloway's Muslim constituents are mad at him for being an absent MP and also for mingling with a Page 3 model and a Baywatch actress.

Yep, Galloway is a tit that is for sure. Still, he pissed all over your congressmen when he came to the U.S.(as a volunteer).

If 'pissed all over' is British for made a fool of himself then yes, he did just that.

No he made your congressman look like a complete prat. Which considering Galloway is one of the more embarrassing people in Britain is quite an achievement.

See if you can find footage of Paxman's interview with him on election night. You'll enjoy it. Most of us did.

Galloway is very good at making a fool of himself. However I think that the chair of the committee that interviewed him looked pretty foolish and couldn't pin anything on him. I understand that he probably isn't a big hitter - and won't ever be on the evidence that I saw.
Personally I detest Galloway but I have to admit to a little patriotic pride in the fact that a third rate MP ran rings around some smug U.S. politician who was convinced he would bury Galloway.

One of Galloway's current housemates is Michael Barrymore - formerly the No1 T.V. presenter in the U.K., now in the shadows due to a "fisting" related death by the swimming pool at a house party that he was hosting. Lets hope George falls asleep by the BB pool.

Urbane:

Sorry Urbane but it was Galloway that was made a fool of. Senator Coleman let Galloway rant on hoping that Galloway would make three important admissions. Like the fool that he is, Galloway did.

Now Galloway will be indicted for perjury. I doubt the the UK will extradite him but if he sets foot in the US again, he will spend many years in Jail. Galloway will officially be buried. Still have some patriotic pride, Urbane?

From Senator Coleman's report

"The Subcommittee report reveals that British MP George Galloway made false or misleading statements before the Subcommittee on May 17, 2005. Specifically, evidence gathered by the Subcommittee reveals:

--Galloway personally solicited and was granted eight oil allocations totaling 23 million barrels from the Hussein government from 1999 through 2003;

--Galloway’s wife, Dr. Amineh Abu-Zayyad, received approximately $150,000 in connection with one allocation of oil;

--Galloway’s political campaign, the Mariam Appeal, received at least $446,000 in connection with several allocations granted under the Oil-for-Food Program;

--Illegal “surcharge” payments in excess of $1.6 million were paid to the Hussein regime in connection with the oil allocations granted to Galloway and the Mariam Appeal; and

--Galloway knowingly made false or misleading statements under oath before the Subcommittee at its hearing on May 17, 2005.

“The additional evidence gathered by the Subcommittee links George Galloway to the Iraqi regime’s scheme to manipulate the U.N. Oil-for-Food program,” said Coleman. “Records obtained indicate that Dr. Abu-Zayyad, the wife of George Galloway, received a $150,000 payment and Mariam Appeal, the political campaign led by George Galloway, received at least $446,000.”

Nick and Urbane, the idea that Galloway embarrassed anyone but himself must be some weird patriotic thing because you really couldn't be more wrong. He basically ranted and raved and looked a complete idiot. I realize it's always supercool to talk shit about America and it must look like this is the ultimate in shit-talking-- getting to be an asshole to an actual American elected official, instead of to tourists or whatever that one might meet, but that doesn't make what one is saying any more intelligent.

Well seeing as the Brits who DETEST Galloway believe nothing of the sort happend and the Americans who also DETEST Galloway believe it did you could produce the EVIDENCE the US Senate based its report on?

Posted by: Nick at January 9, 2006 05:39 AM

Galloway often says he will go back to the US at any point. His cry is "Charge me!". I'm not sure the evidence is that strong. Remember Jake, galloway has already successfully sued one british newspaper over this issue. American Libel Law seems to allow anyone to say anything, and the burden of disproof is on the accused. In the UK, if you say something about a person, you'd better be able to prove it.
