Seriously dude, stop talking

From Michelle Malkin:

New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin has sought to clarify comments he made on Martin Luther King Day to the effect that New Orleans should be a "chocolate" city. He said he had not meant that it should be an all-black metropolis, asking: "How do you make chocolate?

"You take dark chocolate, you mix it with white milk, and it becomes a delicious drink. That is the chocolate I am talking about," he told CNN.

He needs to just stfu. This stupid chocolate analogy has gone on long enough. I understand that a lot of the people of NO, especially older people, feel they can't rebuild and/or are going to be displaced by developers. I would hate to see whole neighborhoods that were once primarily black go yuppy because the original residents were priced out.

I wonder what kind of reaction the Mayor of Boston would get, if after a massive disaster there, he said he wanted to rebuild Boston as a celtic haven (meaning Irish). This obviously would not go over well.

And how is what Nagin said any more ridiculous and embarrassing than "In Defense of Internment"?

That's cool, he recognized his earlier statement was racist and tried to "clarify" it away. At least his heart's in the right place.

As a side note, I always find it odd that racial relations in this country always get simplified to "black and white", as if the other racial groups don't even matter. Especially since Hispanics are soon to become our largest minority.
