Destroy Them

A Palestinian suicide bomber blew himself up outside a fast-food restaurant in a bustling area of Tel Aviv during the Passover holiday Monday, killing eight other people and wounding at least 49 in the deadliest Palestinian attack in more than a year.

The Palestinians' new Hamas leaders called the attack a legitimate response to Israeli "aggression."

If the point of the Palestinians having their own state, with their own leadership, is not to hold them accountable for things like this, then I don't get its purpose. I want to see an Israeli response, and I want it to be harsh and decisive:

The bomber struck at about 1:40 p.m. at "The Mayor's Falafel" restaurant, which was targeted in a Jan. 19 attack that wounded 20 people. The restaurant is in the bustling Neve Shaanan neighborhood near Tel Aviv's central bus station, which was crowded with holiday travelers.

Police said the restaurant hired a security guard after the earlier bombing, and that guard apparently was injured in Monday's blast.

A witness, Moussa al Zidat, said the guard asked the apparent bomber to open his bag.

"I saw a young man starting to open his bag. The guard begins opening the bag, and then I heard a boom."

Witness Israel Yaakov said the blast killed a woman standing near her husband and children.

"The father was traumatized. He went into shock. He ran to the children to gather them up and the children were screaming, 'Mom! Mom!' and she wasn't answering, she was dead already ... it's a shocking scene," Yaakov said.

Another witness, 62-year-old Sonya Levy, said she had just finished shopping when the blast occurred.

"I was about to get into my car, and boom! There was an explosion. A bit of human flesh landed on my car and I started to scream," she said.

A legitimate response to Israeli aggression? Ok, let's see some legitimate Israeli aggression in response.

As much as I share your outrage, disgust and anger over this state-sponsored thug terrorist warfare tactic (if it even rises to a level to be called "war fare" in its illegitimacy), I don't think Israeli aggression in response is going to better the situation for either side.

Despite some strides for peace on both sides, Israeli withdrawl from some settlements and actually fostering some international sympathy, the Palastinian people decided to elect this thug government. It isn't a bright move toward statehood on their side. Yet, escallation of the violence from Israel will only create more suicide bombers on the Palastinian side. Perhaps a long term hurt, though international Diplomacic action, would do some good (yet, I can't yet propose any specific type). Since we have state sanctioned terrorism -- rather, state PRAISED terrorism -- something must be done.

If Palestine were a state, it would be the Number One terrorist state in the world and we have done nothing about it.

Those fucking idiots have forgotten what "aggression" is. It sure as hell isn't having a state handed into murderous hands. I only wish Sharon was available to exact revenge.

"I don't get its purpose"

It's pretty straightforward: it's giving the school bully your lunch money, hoping that *now* he'll finally be satisfied leave you alone.

Except with a lot more at stake.

Toby, I could have written your speech any time for the last 25 years. Nothing has changed. You're not saying anything new.

The only difference is that now Israel can really unload on those fuckers.

Possible silver lining (if that's not a horrible thing to think): Olmert was planning to withdraw from more of the WB over the next year. After this there will be much less support for that from the Israeli public.

The Israeli people, regardless of these bombings, voted for a party which wants peace. Apparently the president of Palastine has made it clear that he thinks this bombing is disgusting, regardless of what anyone else has said for Hamas. islamic Jihad claimed responsibility for this bombing, and released pictures of the dupe, sorry martyr they sent to carry out this act. It's funny how none of these senior people ever perpetrate these acts.
I really can't see how revenge attacks are going to bring an end to the bloodshed and any condemnation. Apart from the two sides to agree a border and then build a gigantic wall on it, separating them forever. The areas of religious significance should be made into a no-mans land , with entrances which allow thorough searching to take place safe for all except the potential bombers.
