The Russians are coming.

Joe Grossberg sends me this map from the 2000 census about how many people in America speak Russian at home. It's a whole lot more than I imagined. Idaho, in particular, has an astounding amount.

Will there also be a version of the Star Spangled Banner in Russian?

Oddly enough, Moscow is in one of the less-Russian parts of Idaho.

My wife is an Russian interpreter in the Los Angeles area, and more and more she's getting jobs in such crazy places like small towns near Bakersfield where there is suddenly a group of Russian-speakers living. I guess with housing prices like they are, everyone is spreading out.
