More on NY politics

It is nice to see that there is some life left in the NYS Republican party.
Posted by: Dan at June 1, 2006 01:53 PMWhile I like Faso over Weld, let's be real. Neither of them are gonna come close to Spitzer and neither of the Senate candidates are gonna be close to Hillary. The only real suspense in NY come November is if Joe Bruno is going to majority or minority leader.
Posted by: Von Bek at June 1, 2006 02:24 PMwho? hahaha
Posted by: toby at June 1, 2006 02:42 PMFaso beats Weld, and Spencer beats KT McFarland?
Is this a sign that the NY GOP will stop treating Conservatives with disdain, or is it a Machiavellian ploy to discredit us in a losing year?
Posted by: Ron Lewenberg at June 1, 2006 03:09 PMSpencer couldn't keep McFarland under 25%, despite her negative press and her very late start. If polls are any indication, she will win a primary.
Ron, it's not about conservative v. liberal this time, it's about state party aparatus (which supports Weld and Spencer) vs. the come-from-behind outsiders (Faso and McFarland).

Posted by: Joe Grossberg at June 1, 2006 05:42 PMThanks for the statehouse, GOP.
Posted by: Charles at June 1, 2006 06:13 PMIt's a win for Faso because he was the underdog and Weld was expected to get 50% or better.
It's a win for McFarland because she wasn't expected to get much higher than in the mid-20s (and she got 36.5%).
Is is true that both the Gubernatorial and Senate races will be an uphill battle for the Republicans, but I do believe both the Attorney General and Comptroller race are winnable. If only the media would start giving some props to Chris Callaghan and really looking into Alan Hevesi's record, then yes, I believe Comp and AG are winnable.
