Since there are only 12 million people in Cuba, I don't believe people are lined up to get sex change operations. Is this the best cause this woman, born with a cuban silver spoon in her mouth, can find?

Not starving, just hungry. I'm sure the folks in Sudan or Niger would love to trade places.

sam:

In any case, it's a good cause -- Cuba still jails homosexuals, for example -- and your argument is an illogical one; if people only focused on the most immediate, urgent causes, then a lot of important stuff wouldn't get done.

Never mind the starving people, spend the money on free education.

We do the same thing here. What's the big deal? If spending tax money on ineffective "education" is as American as apple pie, I don't see the problem with spending tax money on changing a guy to a girl.

They are logically equivalent.

Of course I suspect you don't think it's a good idea that we spend money on "education."

My argument is illogical? If you focus on the most immediate and urgent causes, the most important stuff does get done. This isn't about due process for homosexuals, this is advocating for free sex change operations on demand.

What exactly is the point of being indoctrinated in Communist groupthink?

First of all, the education Cubans receive in Castro's tropical gulag is inferior to the one their grandparents received, which is why they now live in a benighted, third world backwater, instead of the relatively prosperous-if politically tumultuous-island nation that actually attracted immigrants prior to El Hefe's despotic reign.

Secondly, there is no point to a formal education if you're not allowed to freely express yourself, or voice dissenting opinions.

Finally, why don't all of you enfeebled leftists that so idolize the bearded Hitler do us all a favor, and go down there to toil a bit in the sugarcane fields?

Not one of your luxurious vacations-where Castro's goons shield you from the dire poverty and endemic corruption that marks his hideous regime-but an actual lesson in political reality.

I always thought Cuba was poor because Nixon and Hoover snubbed Castro, forcing him to accept the communist penny. Before Castro, Cuba was run by the US mafia (who had picyures of Hoover in drag), and the thousands of official pimps kicked tributes up to the government.
