Read over there, comment over here
What I've been blogging over at Michelle Malkin's site:
**President Bush says freedom beat Hezbollah. I want to know what freedom wins, exactly.
**The whole George Allen scandal seems awfully similar to the 'niggardly' case that happened in DC a few years back. Everyone knows they're mad but no one knows exactly why.
**I'm in favor of torture, particularly if it is immediately saving lives.
**I listened to, and loved, Glenn+Helen's podcast on debunking 9/11 conspiracy theories.
**Harry Reid returned a contribution from one of the liars in the Rathergate scandal. 'What a loser. Good.' Sorry, I've had that Wedding Crashers line in my head for days now.

Great posts...
Anyone sensing new leadership ?????
Posted by: Dan the Democrat at August 15, 2006 06:33 PMI posted on another site last night that the yankee's will never be able to communicate with us southern boys. Trying to call someone a 'mohawk' because of his stupid hair cut got his tongue twisted (he was laughing his a** off at the fool). Going to the Breaks Interstate Park Saturday. Beautiful place and well maintained unlike the dumps they call parks in yankee land. LMAO
Posted by: Scrapiron at August 16, 2006 12:10 AMIf you watch the video, it is absolutely crystal clear that he was saying "macaca." You can argue that he meant something else, but he said it twice and he was not tongue tied. Not only that, if you look at a pic, the guy doesn't have anything close to a mohawk. He does on the other hand, have brown skin.
Posted by: Sam L. at August 16, 2006 12:16 AMSo, you're saying that Allen called him some obscure monkey name?
Posted by: Karol at August 16, 2006 12:27 AMYour posts at michellemalkin.com have brought me here. I'll be reading...
Cheers,
Posted by: Moze at August 16, 2006 12:39 AMI'm saying he called a guy with brown skin a monkey, which in my book qualifies as racist. The least condemning explanation is that he learned it from his French mother, as it is a racial epithet in France for North Africans and Arabs. On the other hand, this is a term that's apparently thrown around on "White Power" racist sites, so an American could have learned the term there.
I'm really not one of those liberals who just assumes that conservatives are racist and liberals are not. But racial prejudice is common, and I hope that in America it is (still?) political suicide to make a racist remark in public.

Here's a link to some ass using macaque as a racial slur against zidane.
Right, Sam L, unless its Democrats calling a black Republican "Uncle Tom" and "Step-an-Fetch-it" or our two Republican Secretaries of State "house n*ggers." Then its perfectly acceptable, "robust" political debate. You sure won't hear the WaPo or NYT condemning it in an editorial.
Posted by: Redhand at August 16, 2006 08:25 AMSo you're saying that it was racist, but we should let it go? I'm happy to condemn any Democrat who makes an equivalent comment, but keep in mind that he actually singled out an individual in an all-white crownd based on his race, and called him a monkey. That is pretty damn racist for any elected official, especially a Senator.
There are a whole lot of Dems who made racist "jokes" about Powell and Rice and especially Thomas, but I can't seem to recall any Senators hurling racist slurs at them in public.
Posted by: Sam L. at August 16, 2006 09:39 AMAllen has been skewered by Ryan Liazza and the New Republic for his "racist" past. Frankly it made me a bit more sympathetic to the guy.
But here's the thing. Allen is another W He would be sweeping floors if it was not for his daddy. He is just another rich Yankee trying to dress up as a normal Southern guy. Allen mangles his words and stands for zilch. I'm sure Allen will betray conservatives on big government, immigration and other issues just like W. I think real American conservatives need to look elsewhere than this empty suit in 2008.
Posted by: Von Bek at August 16, 2006 09:58 AMTry the Democratic pary Von-Bek we've got Lieberman!
or I guess I mean independent party...ecccch
Posted by: Dan the Democrat at August 16, 2006 10:25 AMAgreed that Bush and Allen are of a similar mold, though I think you're probably wrong about immigration. If Allen gets elected he's going to rely on the populist rage of his base, and they won't stand for another president who allows brown people in this country.
Posted by: Sam L. at August 16, 2006 11:12 AMGeorge Allen is my unfortunate Senator. I knew exactly what he meant when I heard it myself. It's rude and insensitive. Allen and many of the other far-right-wingers have stepped out of reality with this country and what it stands for. It's an insult to me or anyone else who consideres themselves American. I agree that we need to stop worrying about being so PC all of the time, but even I know better than what George Allen does. He has a racist and bigoted past and for people to vote for him they're just voting with racism and/or bigotry. Voting against civil rights on many occaisions.

Posted by: Daimeon at August 16, 2006 01:22 PMKarol,
I think you were a bit off in the macaca post with respect to Mukherjee not knowing what macaca meant.
I look at it this way, in 1984 when I was a liberal 11-year old kid admiring the Democrats especially the fiery speakers like Cuomo, Kennedy, Jackson (thinking they were all for racial harmony)... and Jackson made his Hymietown comments. I didn't exactly know what that meant, but I knew it wasn't good. I read that Hymie was a Jewish name, still couldn't figure out exactly how that was racist, but knew immediately that he definitely wasn't expressing his love for the Jews. Of course, more information over the years of that sort and more has completely my opinion of Jackson.
What I'm trying to say is... Sometimes you don't have to stick your head into the shitter to know it stinks.
Posted by: IreneFingIrene at August 16, 2006 01:32 PMAdd the fact that Mukherjee might have been informed that Allen himself had made the excuse that he didn't know that the word meant.. and then it sounds like he just made up (with his pathetic excuse of a brain) an Indian-sounding name like me calling a black man KuntaWoongaBoonga or a Chinese woman ChingChong instead of just asking them their name.
Posted by: IreneFingIrene at August 17, 2006 10:30 AMTorture can never be justified. If someone has to resort to torture to get intelligence, they are incompetent.
I suggest you study methods developed by brigadier general David Irvine (Ret.) which are a kinder, gentler interrogation style: Legal under international military law, effective against the most stubborn enemy, and - above all - moral.
