Stop talking crazy, everyone knows there was no mideast tension before the Iraq war
One harsh lesson is that France -- the lead proponent of projecting Europe as an alternative to U.S. global leadership -- is little more popular with Hezbollah, Iran and others in the Muslim world than the U.S., despite Paris's opposition to the Iraq war.Posted by Karol at August 24, 2006 07:45 AM | TrackBack

Did anybody see Chirac's press conference the guy looked crazed...
This is an interesting read about why the French hate us and the Brits can't afford to.

sound familiar ???
Think about who holds most of the reserves of US $ and bonds.......
Posted by: dan the Democrat at August 24, 2006 06:11 PMIt is what this article doesn't mention that is concerning - the obvious power vacuum that is being created in Europe. What the Europeans have depended on since the end of WWII and fail to still recognize is the protection that the US provids to Western Europe. Who do you think recognizes this the most? Iran and radical Islam? Europeans like to pretend and talk a big game, but with the exception of the British, don't back up their talk. Western Europe better start seeing the new world threat of Islamic terror as a united front instead of deriding the US.
Posted by: Brian Day at August 25, 2006 11:16 AMDan, I would've thought the biggest holders of US$ are the oil producers. After all, OPEC opted to transact all business in dollars in the 70's. If half switched to Euros, the shockwave would flush the US economy down the toilet.
Posted by: bryan at August 26, 2006 05:37 AMJapan holds the most but China has quickly become number 2 and at current growth rates will be the #1 holder of US dollars and dollar denom debt in the world very soon.
Maybe we'll sell them Taiwan for a trillion.
