If someone told you 5 years ago that this is where we'd be.....
....would you have believed it?
U.S. filmmaker Oliver Stone, who surprised many with the patriotic flavour of his new film World Trade Center, hinted in Moscow yesterday that he is considering a more controversial follow-up investigating the "conspiracy" around 9/11."There is a great story in a movie, a conspiracy by a group of people in the American administration who have an agenda and who used 9/11 to further that agenda," he told journalists in Russia.
UPDATE: Debbie Schlussel informs me he said the same thing back in August.

After Alexander flopped, who the hell is financing Stone?

What a boon for Republicans.
Stone will release that film right before the 2008 elections. The backlash from that film will be a disaster for Democrats.

Posted by: Shawn at September 12, 2006 11:44 PMHas anyone heard about the FDR/Pearl Harbor conspiracy theory?
Goes sort of as follows:
Brits have broken the German/Japanese codes using the "Ultra" system (I could be mistaken w the name). The British provide Prez FDR with the info that the Japanese are planning to bomb Pearl Harbor and supposedly provide the date. The Administration does not warn Pearl Harbor but instead plans on sending out the Navy's most precious and hard to replace assets at the time, the Aircraft Carriers. The theory basically goes into the idea that the President needed a completely horrific attack w loss of life in order to convince the strongly isolationist congress to declare war. But at the same time the President's cabinet knew it couldn't afford to lose the Aircraft Carrier so they sent those ships out on manuevers. Leaving the older battleships, that had large crews, in the harbor in harms way. Those surviving Aircraft carriers basically won the war of the pacific, the naval part anyway.
I don't really believe the FDR Pearl Harbor conspiracy theory but I think many people do. I'm guessing Oliver Stone's theory is similar in the sense that Bush's people were warned somehow but didn't prevent 9/11 because they wanted a public tragedy to the tune of Pearl Harbor to further a pre-planned Middle East agenda.
I'm not a big believer in conspiracy theories but I'm sure Hollywood would love to exploit any "loose" connections to 9/11 theories for financial gain. Capitalizing on growing anti-bush sentiment.
How Bush used Hurricane Katrina to find Oil and create Golf Courses in Louisiana, will be on a bookshelf near you soon.
