"When they said 'repent', I wondered what they meant"
To all the Jews reading this, may you have an easy fast. And to all the non-Jews who have tomorrow off because of us--you're welcome.

Aheh. Karol you forgot: And to all the nonjews who have to do their own work and all that of all their jewish coworkers tomorrow -- Thank you!
Posted by: sam at October 1, 2006 01:38 PMHahahahaha. True. I forgot about those people.
Posted by: Karol at October 1, 2006 01:40 PMFavorite Yom Kippur movies:
I always enjoyed Enemies: A Love Story, screenplay written by the very talented Roger L. Simon.
Posted by: sam at October 1, 2006 02:19 PMI'm on a roll here: The Jazz Singer 1927 version with Al Jolson. The Quarrel though technically, that's more of a Rosh Hashanah movie.
Posted by: sam at October 1, 2006 02:37 PMA film that sums up Jewish hardiness? "life is beautiful".
Posted by: bryan at October 1, 2006 04:50 PMIt's kind of spooky at my office as about half of the people working on my floor will be gone today. Maybe more than half. Heck, I wonder how many of my gentile co-workers will show up.
But I can always tell my husband (if he didn't check) what days parking rules are suspended just by checking who is and is not at work.
Posted by: meep at October 2, 2006 05:41 AMThe city feels so empty and I feel like I'm supposed to go eat chinse food on your highest of holidays...
It is the perfect day to hit the Chipotle
Posted by: toby at October 2, 2006 03:36 PMIs this TRUE, WTF????????????????? There might be a few more X-Republicans out there if it is.
QALAT, Afghanistan - U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist said Monday that the Afghan war against Taliban guerrillas can never be won militarily and urged support for efforts to bring "people who call themselves Taliban" and their allies into the government.
The Tennessee Republican said he learned from briefings that Taliban fighters were too numerous and had too much popular support to be defeated on the battlefield.
I meant to say, I hope this is not what the rest of the Republican universe thought about over their fast (to add relevancy to the post).
