Being corrupt is ok as long as you're a Democrat
Democrats defend indicted corrupt politician and union leader as "stand-up guy".

Oh please. Republicans defended DeLay for years until they couldn't do it any longer. Let's stop pretending corruption isn't a bipartisan disease.

Posted by: Charles at October 18, 2006 01:47 PMKenneth Lay anyone?
Posted by: Nick at October 18, 2006 02:23 PMSome info on McLaughlin here: http://thepoliticker.observer.com/2006/10/mclaughlin-fallout.html
Ken Lay was not an elected official.
Posted by: Karol at October 18, 2006 02:54 PMHe's basically accused of racketeering, extortion-more or less-and skimming funds from the electrical workers' union that he headed.
My favorite part of this story though-bar none-is the fact that he stole thousands of dollars from the William Jefferson Clinton Democratic Club, no doubt making its namesake proud.
Posted by: Gerard at October 18, 2006 06:08 PMNew York Hotlist, Delay was indicted and tried. Miraculous how when Republicans are thought to maybe do something wrong, the Dems are shouting off with their heads. However, in the case of say Rep. Jefferson, when people admitted they had payed him and they found $90,000 in his freezer, the Dems wanted it completely covered up.
Oh, and Kenneth Lay was a corrupt executive, not an elected official.
