Early morning thought

8:32am, Prospect Expressway, Brooklyn:

"Fine, 'U2' can be considered 'Classic Rock', but I draw the line at 'Stone Temple Pilots'."

Hahahahaha. I went through this ten years ago. Welcome to middle age.

Hmm, which U2 song was it. I mean even the stuff from the "Joshua Tree" is now 20 years old. Anything from the much underappreciated "Unforgetable Fire" or "War" of course can be considered classic rock. If they actually played something off "Boy" or "October"...well thats not classic rock, that's just obscure.

"New Years Day"

Well let's see....1983....yeah ok, classic rock. Man law !

But STP....no.

Classic Rock is 1970's and before.
Everything else needs another name.

So, what radio station in the metro NYC area is playing U2 and STP in the morning anyways? I thought most of the rock stations had fled the city...

She hates time, make it stop...
When did Motley Crue become classic rock?

Posted by: Gib at November 2, 2006 10:32 AM

Classic rock is any music you listened to in high school and college. And much to the dismay of the music industry, that is the rock you will prefer to listen to for the rest of your life.

Classic rock = hard rock. I can remember hearing the Stone Temple Pilots on classic rock stations back in the 90s.

New rock classification suggestion:

Respirator Rock
Geezer Rock
Cialis Rock
Vintage Rock
Classic Rock
Extra Sharp Aged Rock
First Pressing Rock
Rock
What is that crap?

I was listening to that old song "Spooky" they play every Halloween. That song has to be at least 40 years old. Still sounds great.

Now, when a band has a "tribute band" associated with them, maybe they're classic. I just found out "Hair Supply" is a metal tribute to "Air Supply." Now this I've gotta hear...

not all classic rock is hard rock - lynyrd skynyrd is classic but southern rock not hard rock. and air supply is most definately not hard.
