Conversation of yesterday
"I would vote for him [the Libertarian candidate in the U.S Senate race in NY] but if he somehow garners a significant percentage of the vote, then the story will be how the candidate that wants to bring the troops home immediately actually made a showing against two candidates who support the war." -Me
"Oh c'mon, what difference does it make? If the Republicans lose, the story will be "they lost because of the war", but if they win the story will be "they won because of gay marriage"."-Peter

Now THAT is good press criticism. (Seriously.)

The Democrats are doomed. Doomed, I tell you, doomed.
"Why a November 7 Surprise?
The Republican base is extremely angry at the mainstream media. The media have ceased to be striped-shirted referees in the ring. This year, day after day, they have been throwing sucker punches aimed to help the Left. Nowadays, there is no trustworthy referee. Where a reasonably impartial press (tilting only slightly left) used to be, there is now only a passion to hurt a president in a time of war, the most dangerous war in our history. Republicans will be voting against the left-wing media, the left-wing courts, and the whole culture of the Left."

Posted by: Jake at November 2, 2006 11:41 AMY'know, I was talking to my little brother in upstate and he asked me who I would have voted for if I was still in NY. No real suprises (Faso on C, Callaghan on C, hold the nose and Pirro on C) at the state level but Senate was a hard choice. I would probably go fishing, vote Libertarian or write in Ed Cox. If KT is on the Jobs line, you do have that option. Politics1 seems to think she is.
Posted by: Von Bek at November 2, 2006 11:45 AMYeah, Jake. Spitzer and Hillary are shaking in their shoes. The only doomed Dem in NY is Hevesi.
Posted by: Von Bek at November 2, 2006 11:45 AMThat would be true, Von Bek, if (a) Callaghan had any money (unless he spending it upstate; there is no evidence in NYC that he is even running) OR (b) people cared about the Comptroller race. Hevesi should be ashamed of himself - and should probably resign in January - but Callaghan is totally unqualified.
Pirro is a total joke. An AG married to a felon?
Hevesi and Cuomo, both comfortably.
Posted by: Charles at November 2, 2006 12:28 PMVon Bek:
Spitzer is doomed.
Once he has the power of the governorship behind his hatred of everything corporate, there will be a mass exodus of corporations from New York state.
Unemployment will zoom to 18%. Karol will run and win the governorship and save the state. Spitzer will be doomed to spending the rest of days harrassing companies by filing $50 claims in small claims court.
Posted by: Jake at November 2, 2006 12:30 PMEh, you're probably right.
Yeah, not a fan of Pirro either but loathe Cuomo. I might be tempted to vote Libertarian there if I was still in NY.
Posted by: Von Bek at November 2, 2006 12:31 PMYou know the sad part was Jake that Spitzer was the conservative of the field for AG back in 94.
Karol would be a terrific governor which is why the NY GOP would never nominate our gal.
I don't think there will be a mass exodus out of NY since most large business leaders are actually liberal elite types who think its doing their duty to be taxed.
Posted by: Von Bek at November 2, 2006 12:33 PMThere is the option of doing a Write-In, as this guy suggests.
